NEW OFFICES FOR JOTRON AS
Jotron AS moved
into brand new
purpose built offices
on Monday 8th
October. The new 3
storey building is situated
on the site of
the old premises and
each floor is 900m2
giving us significantly
more space than
previously.
The official moving
date for all employees
was Friday
5th October and
the move was accomplished
without
any problems. The
actual official opening
date was set
for Thursday 8th
November and the
guest of honour was
The Mayor of
Larvik, Øyvind
Riise Jensen,
who performed
the
opening ce-
remony and cut the ribbon to officially
open the building. More than 80
guests were invited and conducted
tours of the new facilities were carried
out by members of staff.

Welcome to this issue of our company
newsletter in the new corporate layout!
It is 5 years since we started this form of
external communication and this is the
first Beacon to exhibit the new design.
In this issue you will read all about our
40th anniversary and new offices, along
with Jotron Phontech’s celebration of
their 20th anniversary, also with new
facilities.
Our new facilities represent our long
term commitment and are important
foundations for our continued operation
in the years to come. The purpose
built layout will also enable us to serve
you in an even swifter and more efficient
manner.

PRODUCT NEWS
From TR-710 to TR-810
The new TR-810 is designed to meet future demands for a
lightweight, rugged and flexible radio, specially designed for
vehicle and desktop
applications.
The flexible design
is achieved
by making the
Operators Control
Panel (OCP)
detachable from
the compact base
unit. Communication
between the
two units is via one single cable only. By being able to separate
the OCP from the base unit, it opens up for two main user
applications.
Vehicle
For vehicle installations this is the ultimate solution, whereby
the OCP may be located at the vehicles dash board and the
base unit elsewhere in the vehicle. E.g. under the seat or in the
trunk, where there are no space constraints.
Desk-top
For desk-top and portable applications, the two units may
easily be mounted together to form a complete radio.

EXHIBITION
Jotron to attend ATC March 2008
The ATC (Air Traffic Control) exhibition
is an annual event that
was launched 18 years ago and
Jotron AS has participated on
every occasion. It provides a
European focus on the ATC industry
and has become one of
the most important worldwide
ATC events. Over 2000 industry
professionals attend every year
at the three-day event with 130
exhibitors representing over 20
countries worldwide.
The next exhibition will be held
from the 11th – 13th March 2008
at the RAI International Exhibition
and Congress Centre in Amsterdam.
Staff from both Jotron’s
Norwegian and UK offices will be
in attendance on stand Number
D220 exhibiting the range of
Ground to Air Radios.
The QA (Quality Assurance) department
at Jotron currently consists
of 2 people, - Inge O. Aardal
(Quality Control Manager) and
Bjørn Rishovd (Quality Manager).
Inge has been in this position since
1998 in addition to his other
responsibility as IT Manager. He
will revert to devoting 100% of his
time to the QA Department in February
2008 when a new IT Manager
will join the Company.
The QA department´s role is to
ensure the quality of all products
that are manufactured and sold
by Jotron. This includes the testing
and certification of products
against officialinternational
standards
and environmentaltesting.
Furthermore,
they assist the
project and
development
departments
Inge O. Aardal,
Quality Control
Manager
with tests such as FAT (Factory
Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site
Acceptance Test).

CELEBRATION
- 40 years anniversary
Jotron AS head office in Larvik, Norway invited all its employees and staff from its
subsidiary offices in Horten, UK, USA, Singapore and Lithuania to join with them
over the week-end of 16th, 17th and 18th November to celebrate the Company’s
40th Anniversary. At the same time Jotron Phontech celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The festivities started on the Friday evening with a dinner in
Jotron’s brand new canteen. Entertainment was provided by comedian
Pellegrino Ricardi who gave us a unique insight into typical
Norwegian culture and behaviour.
On Saturday our guests visited a tourist location at Fredriksvern in
Stavern followed by lunch at Jotron Phontech and a tour of their
new extended facilities. This in turn was followed by a trip to the
local bowling alley where teams comprised of all employees from around the world
enjoyed a competition. Shawn Goodwin from Jotron USA in Houston took 1st place
followed by Otto Holm and Stig Erik Helland from Jotron Norway who tied for second
place.
The main event of
the whole weekend
took place
on Saturday evening
with a celebratory
dinner in
Sandefjord. In total
more than 150
employees from

worldwide were in
attendance.

Nor-Shipping 2006, Lillestrøm
Jotron AS was represented
during what was
called ”The Leading
Maritime Event Week”,
also called Nor-Shipping
at Norway Trade
Fairs in Lillestrøm, a
stonethrow away from
Oslo.
Jotron AS was 1 out of
828 exhibitors during
the 4 days event and
was said to be the most
successful yet to be
held. This was the 21st
international shipping
exhibition and the primary
focus, both for the
trade itself and Jotron,
was to create business
opportunities.
EVENTS
Jotron agent seminar
To coincide with the
Nor-Shipping exhibition
held in Oslo during
June, Jotron AS held an
agent seminar attended
by more than 80
delegates from around
the world in the popular
tourist location of Holmenkollen.
In addition to both Maritime
and Ground to
Air workshops outdoor
activities were arranged
including hiking in the
local forest and “barrel
boat” rowing. In addition
everyone went on
a boat ride to an island
in the Oslo Fjord and
enjoyed a traditional
bar-b-q and live entertainment.
The highlight
of the seminar was a
formal dinner attended
by all the delegates at
which Danish comedian
and TV personality Eddie
Skoller provided the
entertainment.

Jotron Phontech was established in March
1987 and celebrates its 20th anniversary
this year.
Since Jotron Phontech’s beginning, the
main activity has been to design and manufacture
internal communication equipment
for merchant shipping, the Royal
Norwegian Navy and to the increasing
North Sea oil drilling market.
Jotron Phontech have also expanded their
current premises to give more warehouse
and office space to handle the increasing
demand for their range of products.

Jotron VHF/AM TRANSCEIVER TR-7750/25/10
The new digital 7000 series radios are now available complete with advanced digital signal
processing (DSP) as opposed to the old analogue radios. This new radio transceiver
can operate in various modes for Audio and Data Link operations.
The receiver and transmitter use the most powerful digital signal processors to perform
intermediate frequency (IF) and the audio frequency (AF) filtering. In addition, all the
modulation and demodulation tasks are performed in the signal processor. This means
improved product control, less tuneable parts and improved reliability.
TRAINING
Product and SBM training Oct 31 - Nov 1
The Jotron Group invited distributors from all
over the world to the seventh 2-day product and
SBM (Shore Base Maintenance) training course
to be held at their premises in Norway. The purpose
of this training is to expand Jotron’s world
wide SBM network by ensuring distributors have
all the necessary product knowledge, equipment
and technical capability to carry out such work.
Each participant received a certificate which states
they are now authorised SBM users. The delegates
on the course were representatives from
almost every continent around the globe.
The training was carried out by Technical Sales
Support Manager Fred Ivar Tallaksen assisted by
Jan Erik Sæter, Product Manager Maritime and Jotron
Phontech’s Sales Manager Per Amundsen.
