From the President...Dear Lexington Catholic Community,In the Fall, 2009 edition of the KnightLine magazine, I included a list of my highestpriorities as President for the near term. They included increasing enrollment, elevatingschool spirit, reinforcing our Catholic identity and increasing funds for our tuitionassistance program.Dr. Steve Angelucci (‘71)PresidentWhile I remain committed to these priorities, I’ve recently added another; that is toinsure our school provides a welcoming, inclusive environment for all our students. We are blessed with a student body that is growing in diversity of race, nationality, culture, talents and interests. It is our obligation to provide a healthy, supported settingin which our students can enjoy, even celebrate, their differences as a valued member ofour school community. We are not immune to some of the divisive, hurtful dynamicssuch as cultural insensitivity and bullying that appear more and more often in the news.Rather than hope it doesn’t happen at LCHS or that it will simply go away, we’ve decidedto take a more proactive approach. We’ve recently established a new faculty/staff committee entitled Culture and Climateto keep us on task with a new initiative designed to enlighten and prepare the entireLCHS school community to address potential issues in our own hallways. The last twoin-service days have been exclusively dedicated to providing awareness exercises andtraining so all members of our faculty, staff and administration are better equippedto address and hopefully prevent these troubling social issues. Soon, we’ll initiateeducational programs for our students regarding the growing national and localproblem of insensitivity and disrespect within a school community. Our recent effort will not be a one-time solution to addressing these challenges. OurCulture and Climate Committee and school-wide program will remain a long-termcommitment to making sure we provide every student the best possible experience atLexington Catholic.Like most schools, we face many challenges as we continue providing the best possibleacademic, faith-based, athletic and extracurricular programs at Lexington Catholic. Nopriority is more important than continuing to provide the most affordable opportunitypossible for the diverse population we serve in the Central Kentucky area. In supportof our effort to remain true to this commitment, I hope you will continue to keep TheLexington Catholic Fund, our annual fund, in mind as you determine your givingpriorities in the future. My first year as President has been a remarkable one for me personally. I deeplyappreciate the many gestures of support and friendship that so many of you haveextended. I look forward to our very promising future together.Dr. Steve Angelucci (‘71)President1

One of our Houses will be doing a trash collection dayon the streets surrounding our campus and sending notes to our neighbors. We have had overtwenty student athletes already commit to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. As we approach our Honors Award Ceremonies at the end of the year, we call to mind all ofthose Knights who shine every day in our building. They honor us with their accomplishments. We have had four drama productions and numerous concerts which were outstanding andreminded us that the fine arts are truly flourishing at Lexington Catholic. We await Prom and aGraduation ceremony for the Class of 2010.While we are closing the chapter on the 2009-2010 school year, we are also anxious to welcomeour new freshmen to the 2010-1011 school year as we continue to find ways to champion all themembers of the Lexington Catholic community, making LCHS a place in which a culture ofcivility and hospitality is the expectation for all.
