<strong>NLGI</strong>-USA<strong>NLGI</strong>-USA, a premier society in the field of lubricating grease research, spans over 50countries with more than 300 corporate members. Since 1933, <strong>NLGI</strong> is providing service togrease industry through annual general meetings/ conferences, education courses, workinggroups on various grease related issues, funding basic research projects, conducting roundrobin tests, assisting governments / policy makers on grease & environmental related issues,etc. It has links with many other societies such as European Lubricating Grease Institute,China Lubricating Grease Institute, Latin America Lubricating Grease Institute, JapanLubricating Grease Institute, etc., thereby providing a global platform for sharing greaseindustry information. With an objective to serve grease industry in a better way, the societyalso forms local chapters in different countries.<strong>NLGI</strong> – <strong>India</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong><strong>India</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> of <strong>NLGI</strong> was formed in 1997 and it has since been very active and is renderingservices to <strong>India</strong>n grease industry by way of conducting education courses on various greaserelated subjects relevant to consumers / manufacturers, organizing round robin tests onvarious test methods, conducting grease conferences and publishing quarterly journal“Greasetech <strong>India</strong>”. This society has membership from all major petroleum industries frompublic sector as well as private sector, other related industries and research institutes, etc.The primary objective of this society is to bring grease industry related personnel includingconsumers on to a common platform so that their mutual business interests can be discussedand shared.<strong>NLGI</strong>-<strong>India</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> has so far successfully organized many programs, viz. 15 educationcourses, 4 round robin tests and published 53 issues of “Greasetech <strong>India</strong>”, etc.Grease Conferences in <strong>India</strong>With a view to bring grease & its allied industries people on to a common platform whereareas of mutual technical and business interest could be discussed in detail. <strong>India</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> of2


<strong>NLGI</strong> has been organizing exclusive grease conferences in <strong>India</strong> on similar lines as is beingdone by its parent body, <strong>NLGI</strong>-USA.So far <strong>NLGI</strong>-<strong>India</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> organized 14 conferences at various exotic locations: 1 st Lubricating Grease Conference, February 11-12, 1999 at Nainital 14 th Lubricating Grease Conference, February 2- 4, 2012 at Jaipur15 th Lubricating Grease Conference<strong>NLGI</strong>-<strong>India</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> conferences have now become a focal point for grease related industrypersonnel to promote their business interest in this part of the world. To promote research & development in greases andrelated areas, <strong>NLGI</strong> - <strong>India</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> gives away a best paper award during the conference onthe name of Late Mr. P.P.C. Gonsalves who made an immense contribution to thedevelopment of <strong>India</strong>n grease industry. The high level expert committee will scrutinize thepapers in terms of technical contents, its suitability for grease industry, style of presentation,etc. The recipient of best paper award will be considered for nomination to attend and presentthe paper in the next <strong>NLGI</strong>-USA AGM.
