A brief meeting is required prior to June 8. Atthis meeting, participants will receive a USB drive with homework assignments and the book“Designing Services and Programs for High-Ability Learners”. As on site academy work is threehours—participants are required to complete readings and homework prior to the June 20 date. Thiswill be a morning only session as academy work will take place prior to the event.This course is designed to familiarize instructional leaders to issues related to gifted education. Course content includes—identifyinggifted students, assessing gifted programs, tracking student progress on a yearly basis, determining how the RtI process relates to educatinggifted students, and planning for improved quality of gifted programming in a school district. The course is three hours ofdirect instruction and three hours of indirect instruction, which includes two pre-readings, a brief assignment based on those prereadingsand the completion of an application/dissemination component.The course will meet from 8:30 a.m. -11:30 a.m. at the Reddick Library Annex. Enter from Washington Street (Northeast corner oflibrary building/complex). Books need to be picked up at the ROE office prior to the academy. Attendees should bring a laptop,earbuds, book, and completed homework to the academy. A flash drive will be provided that contains course materials.
