It is 7 cm in diameter and 6 mm thick. Theobserved side of the medal is completely metal (gold,silver or bronze) and has the traditional IOC(International <strong>Olympic</strong> Committee) image of thewinged goddess of victory, Nike and the Panathinaikosarena (this image featured repeatedly in the Athens<strong>Olympic</strong>s) engraved on the surface.The inspiration for the medals came from an ancientChinese jade bi.
