ATA Specification 104/Definitions for Training LevelsLevel I: General FamiliarizationPersonnel must be familiar with current equipment andhave a general knowledge of turbine-powered transportaircraft. Level I provides a brief overview of the airframe,systems and power plant as outlined in the SystemsDescription Section of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual.Level II: Ramp and TransitPersonnel must be familiar with turbine-powered transportaircraft digital electronic equipment and have experience inramp, transit and turnaround activity. Level II provides abasic system overview; a description of controls, indicatorsand principal components including their location; andpractical training on servicing and minor troubleshooting.European Aviation SafetyAgency (EASA)<strong>Pratt</strong> & <strong>Whitney</strong> Customer Training is an approved EuropeanAviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 147 Maintenance TrainingOrganization. Certification allows <strong>Pratt</strong> & <strong>Whitney</strong> CustomerTraining to provide “type training” for European aircraft andpower plant technicians as required by their respective EASAPart 66 curricula.Part 147 certification also ensures that <strong>Pratt</strong> & <strong>Whitney</strong>Customer Training’s facility, processes, records, personnel,equipment and examinations continuously meet the higheststandards. Experienced and qualified instructors undergotraining every year to stay current with the latest technicalupgrades, training techniques and regulatory requirements. Inaddition, our EASA-qualified examiners provide hands-onassessments and exams following each class.Part 66 Appendix III type-training levels are based upon ATA 104 (Air TransportAssociation) corresponding-type training levels.Level III: Line and Base Maintenance TrainingPersonnel attending Level III training should, in addition torequirements for Levels I and II, possess the knowledgeand experience required to maintain turbine-poweredtransport aircraft. Level III provides a detailed description ofthe operation, component location, removal/installation andtroubleshooting procedures to maintenance manual level.Level IV: Specialized TrainingEntry level is defined by subject matter. Personnel musthave considerable experience in the field in which trainingwill be received. Level IV provides a detailed description,component location, in-depth troubleshooting, adjustment,test procedures, rigging, in-depth use of wiring diagrams,schematics and engineering data.Level V: Component Overhaul TrainingEntry level is defined by subject matter. Personnel mustmeet prerequisites established by the vendor. Specializedoverhaul training is conducted by airframe/enginemanufacturers and/or their suppliers to a componentmaintenance manual level.EASA Certificate4
