Studio stand featuresFOBA stands are very sturdy, andtherefore suitable for very heavycameras or sensors. The specifiedstandard lifting capacity is calculatedon the basis of the average camera orsensor weight. It can be increased almostat will by adding extra counterweightsinside the shaft. However, eachadditional counterweight reduces theoperational height of the beam by theheight of each weight.Precise rulers and gauges – in millimetersand inches – allow the user to positionand to repeat all settings accurately. The end of the beam is equipped witha spigot onto which various tilt headsand other rotating accessories can beinserted. Some models have a rotationgauge with which settings can be repeatedaccurately. All rotating elements – supports, arms and uprights – are inserted ontothe spigot at the end of the cross beamand can be braced in any position bythe clamp. The initial tension can beregulated with the 2 additional hexsocketscrews, permitting thus toadjust the friction on the spigotcorresponding to the weight of thecamera. For better convenience andindividual operationing, theclamp can be mounted on bothsides of the support, arm orupright.Shaft and beam aremanufactured withwarp-resistant, hexagonalsteel pipes. A camera orsensor can be mounted ateach end of the beam.Crosspiece and beam owe their smoothmovements (crosspiece vertically, beam horizontally) to 24 state-of-theartball bearings.Ergonomic handles and locking devicesallow float-free blocking of horizontal, vertical and rotation movements.Shock absorber for AROBE and AROBIcast-iron bases. The shock absorbingsystem allows the base to be lifted andlowered without jolts, thus effectivelysafeguarding highly sensitive equipmentsuch as cameras or measuringapparatus. The crosspiece rotates and is equippedin some models with a rotation gauge.Technical designation of the usualthreads in photography and measurementtechnology :• Big thread: 3/8“• Small thread: 1/4“In the measurement technology, evenbigger threads (5/8”) may be used.Double pedalDue to a sophisticated mechanism, the stand can be lowered onto the flooror raised onto its wheels without mucheffort.Tall stands (up to 6 m resp. 19.7’) can be delivered with the fittingsMUBOD, MUDEK or MUWAN which fix it permanently to the floor insteadof with the standard movable base.www.foba.com3

ASABA MMotor Driven Studio StandThe need for automatization is also growing in the opticalmeasurement industry. Besides robots, only rarely used forfinancial reasons, there are barely any simple, serial producedstands for the automatic positioning of sensors in the measurementindustry. With FOBA’s ASABA M, the motor driven versionof the well-proven ASABA, the position can now be adjustedelectrically and automatized in two axes. The ASABA M is delivered with a manual control unit andpossesses also a CANopen interface. It can be operated ma -nually with the control straight away or programmed and ope -rated through the CANopen interface.AROBE MCan only be operated manually via a wired remote control.Movements cannot be programmed.Conceived as individual device and manual operationing. Can only be operated on site via a wire.Positioning accuracy of camera or sensor ca. 3 mm4 motorized movements enabled:– Vertically – Tilting of head– Horizontally – Tipping of headStandard stand operating at 230 V.An additional transformer also allows operating at 110 V.Especially convenient for stationary application needs. When shifting the height, the weight compensation of thecamera and the beam occurs through a counterweightinside the shaft. Heavier or lighter cameras have thus to becompensated by further counterweights.Differences between the two motorised studio stands:Based on the studio stand AROBE (DSS ALPHA).This stand being very sturdy, cameras or sensors can bepositioned on higher heights or further away from the shaft.ASABA MCan be operated manually via a remote control and viathe computer by means of a wire.Movements can be programmed (CANopen). As such, it is adapted for automatized sequences. Can be integrated into existing software environmentsthanks to the common and open interface and used inautomation with a turntable, for example. Can be operated by distance through Ethernet or USBconnection.Positioning accuracy of camera or sensor < 1 mm.Only 2 movements enabled by motor:– Vertically– HorizontallyVoltage range: 110 VAC - 230 VAC.Appropriate for stationary or mobile application needs.Drive positioned in such a way that cameras and sensorsup to 20 kg (44.1 lbs) can be moved vertically without anyweight compensation needed.Based on the studio stand ASABA. According to itslighter design, the cameras or sensors cannot be placedas high or far away from the shaft. Both motorised studio stands can be adapted on customer’s requests.Advantages of ASABA M over robots:• Easy handling and programming• Can also be applied on mobile, automatizedapplications• No further security facilities needed formax. speeds ofHorizontally: 250 mm/sVertically:33 mm/sHandy control unit:• Joystick: vertical and horizontalmovements• Own vertical and horizontal speedcontrol• EMERGENCY BUTTONTechnical Data:230 V or 110 VHorizontal beam holds up to 20 kg (44 lbs)Operated by manual control unit or computerRJ45 socket for CANopen directRJ45 socket for Ethernet combined withmodule E2CAN gateway (optional)Positioning accuracy < 1 mmWeight of total stand (without sensor) 96 kg (212 lbs)Vertical displacement above floor at standard height:approx.: 45 cm – 210 cm (1.5’ – 6.8’)2 electricallyadjustable axisFollowing features of FOBA’s studio standsare appreciated by users from the opticalmeasurement industry:• Precise• Sturdy• Stable• Great variety of accessories• Easy to use• Low-maintenance and durableSpigot for diverse FOBA standard heads orcustomer-specific adaptersBase pedalto drive casters out for an easydisplacementwww.foba.com13
