THE PROGRAMAt AboutFace, we understand the benefit ofhaving a special place to make friends, shareideas and challenge physical boundaries. In 2003,AboutFace created <strong>Camp</strong> Trailblazers, a wildernessretreat for youth ages 10-18 who have a facialdifference. <strong>Camp</strong> Trailblazers is designed toprovide our youth with an opportunity to step outof their comfort zone and to accept and conquernew challenges all within a safe environment.Everyone is accepted at <strong>Camp</strong> Trailblazers andfeelings, ideas and individuality are respected. Ourgoal is to help our participants discover their truepotential. Our activities and challenges illustratethat with determination and support they canaccomplish anything.Our goal at <strong>Camp</strong> Trailblazers is to give eachcamper the opportunity to:GUIDANCE AND SAFETYGuidance and safety are key factors in havinga productive and enjoyable camp experience.Providing a safe environment is what allows ourparticipants to feel safe enough to step out oftheir comfort zones. This is integral to our programas this is the moment when our members trulylearn something about themselves and grow asindividuals. Our retreat locations are well equippedwith trained staff and experienced adult volunteersfrom AboutFace, many of whom have a facialdifference. With larger groups the boys and girlscabins may be further subdivided by age. Eachcabin will have at least one adult group leader ofthe same gender.
