chosen to attend the Deep Sea Diving School. He graduated asa Deep Sea Diving Medical Technician and 1 st Class Diver. Hewas assigned to various submarine rescue ships andsubmarines. His tour included the USS Florikan, USSChanticleer, Submarine USS Halibut, USS Sea Wolf, USSSaratoga Air Craft Carrier. This experience caused him to beselected and trained as an Aquanaut in the “Sea Lab” program.He served two tours at the Experimental Diving Unit and madethe 1 st 600 foot saturation dive and the 1 st dive in the OceanSimulation Facility in Panama City, Fl. He was one of theauthors of “The Unlimited Duration Saturation DivingExcursion Tables”.He retired from the Navy in 1977. After leaving the Navy, hejoined McDermott Diving and worked as an Offshore Divingsuperintendent for several years before becoming the DivingMedical Officer. During this time he participated as asupervisor in Igloo 88, which was a saturation dive to 1800feet in Aberdeen, Scotland at the National Hyperbaric Center.He left McDermott and joined Cal-Dive International as VicePresident of Safety, Training, Human Resources and Security.During his association with McDermott and Cal-Dive, hebecame involved with the Association of Diving ContractorsInternational. He served on the ADC board for 14 years andserved as its president for 3 terms. In 2001, he was awardedthe ADC Safety Medical & Education committee’s STAR award.In 2006, he was one of 41 members worldwide to be inductedinto the Commercial Diving Hall of Fame.During his retirement he operated a successful diving safetyconsulting business.His cremains will be buried at sea near the Naval Diving andSalvage Training Center in Panama City, FlMemorial contributions may be made to Mark V MonumentScholarship Fund, 501 Blue Heron Drive, Panama City, Fl32404
