Mrs Maree Kaan returns at 0.5 and will beteam-teaching with Mrs Emma Read 0.5. Mrs Lisa Rossireturns at 0.4 to share the teaching of Languages with SignoraJuliana Quinn.Mrs Sue Moses-Critchley has chosen to retire at theconclusion of 2012. May I take this opportunity to thank Suesincerely for her outstanding efforts and many contributionstowards the education of the students at <strong>Mont</strong> <strong>Albert</strong><strong>Primary</strong> <strong>School</strong> over the last 19 years. In my time as PrincipalSue has been an active member of the Leadership Team and amost supportive colleague to all staff members. Sue hasintroduced Restorative Practices and reviewed and evaluatedour Student Welfare and Wellbeing Program; Sue’s leadershiphas been pivotal in nurturing the culture we now have andthe values and mottos that we stand for and respect. Sue’sdedication and commitment to her teaching has beenexceptional and she will be sadly missed, however I know thatshe has many great plans to travel with her husband Pete andenjoy her grandchildren who no doubt shall keep her busy.Mrs Julie Gazdowicz has also chosen to take 12 months Leavewithout Pay to spend some quality time with her family.Miss Melinda Tippett has worked tirelessly supporting SignoraJuliana Quinn in the teaching of Italian throughout the yearand we thank her for her many outstanding contributions tothe Languages Program at <strong>Mont</strong> <strong>Albert</strong> throughout 2012; wewish Melinda the very best for her future teachingendeavours.The 2013 Workforce Plan has been presented to theLeadership Team, Consultative Team and staff. The course is covering some Japaneseculture, geography, numbers and greetings, as well as somehiragana. Juliana Quinn is taking the classes and is currentlyorganising some Japanese friends as guest visitors to helpwith the program. Signora Quinn is known as Sensei Quinnto the Grade 6 students studying this course of Japanese. Asthis has been most successful, at of the commencement of2013, the Year 5 and Year 6 students will focus on ItalianSemester 1 and then Japanese Semester 2. There is a majoremphasis on introducing Asian languages in schools fromthe DEECD and we are delighted that Juliana has thecapacity and skills to provide introductory lessons inJapanese for our senior students.AEU campaignAs already communicated to all families via the Bulletin anda hard copy letter sent home, many teaching staff are notproviding written feedback on student reports in December.This industrial action is taking place as part of the currentcampaign which looks as though it may continue into the2013 school year.Spring Fling Special Lunch DayCongratulations to Mrs Danielle Howard and her team ofhelpers on another very successful lunch day for all.

Fairytales start with “Once upon atime” and end with “Happily ever after”. The numbersseven and three are common in fairytale titles. What isinteresting about fairytales is that animals can talk andthey have a moral.Ella HannonIn a fairytale animals often talk. GATEWAYS is anindependent organisation offering challenging andenriching activities to highly able students.Two teams from <strong>Mont</strong> <strong>Albert</strong> PS took part in the challenge,which involved completing four very different tasks in justthirty minutes each. All challenges tested teams’ abilities tocoordinate, communicate, create and cooperate underpressure!The students involved are to be congratulated on thepositive way they have approached their participation inthe challenge, giving up many lunch times to practise thetasks, to learn to work together as a cooperative team andto use their leadership skills.The Grade 5/6 Team, consisting of Faith Morgan, ChrisThomson, Harrison Kitchingman and Hilary Butt, wereplaced 4th in a tight competition, with a Highly Commendedawarded in each task. Their team score was 139 points withthe winning team scoring only 6 extra points. They wereparticularly recognised for their performance in the MusicalMayhem challenge and were asked to perform for the otherteams.The Grade 3/4 Team, consisting of Maella Teele, PhillipWang, Eloise Webster and Sascha Gillam, workedparticularly well at all their challenges displayingoutstanding teamwork and leadership. They achieved ascore of 155 points and were placed first! They received atrophy which will be placed in the cabinet in the foyer. Thisteam now goes on to compete in the finals at Box Hill High<strong>School</strong> on December 5 th .
