This meant that timber could be exported and increasing numbers of tourists could come to enjoy the fresh, pure air and magnificent peaks.July 1914 was a highly significant date for the whole Valley, for a mountain railway, the Aigle-Sépey-Les Diablerets, was at last inaugurated, opening up the whole area for one and all.Les Diablerets is most famous for its winter sport. Various international competitions havebeen held, and some very talented skiers were native from the village, such as Willy Favre (silvermedallist in the Grenoble Olympic Games in 1968), and Lise-Marie Morerod (winner of theWorld Cup in 1977).For more information about this location, see www.lesdiablerets.ch.66th International Meeting on Microbial Epidemiological Markers
