PROGRAM REQUIREMENTSDirect DoctoratePost-MS Doctorate54 credit hours of course work, includingthree required core courses, at leastone course in each of three areas:n CSci 6221 Advanced SoftwareParadigms,n CSci 6461 ComputerArchitectures,n CSci 6212 Design and Analysisof Algorithms,and at least one Advanced Topicscourse.Up to 15 of the credit hours can betaken in fields outside of the department.30 credit hours of course work, includingat least one course in each of threeareas (Algorithms & Theory, Systems &Architecture, and Applications), and atleast one Advanced Topics course.Up to 9 of the credit hours can be takenin fields outside of the department.Additionally, all degree candidates must:n Pass the Preliminary Exam within four semesters of starting the program.n Pass a Dissertation Proposal Exam.DOCTORAL DEGREEn Complete a Dissertation (for 24 credit hours beyond the course work).n Successfully defend the dissertation to a committee.n Prior to graduation, submit for publication at least one paper to a referredvenue.p a g e 3
