<strong>Isolate</strong> Formati<strong>on</strong><str<strong>on</strong>g>Article</str<strong>on</strong>g> 56 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> C<strong>on</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong>s, states that members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Secular</strong> Order, who <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g> reas<strong>on</strong>s <strong>of</strong> distance, age, or illness cannot participate in <strong>the</strong> regularmeetings <strong>of</strong> a community, remain members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Secular</strong> Order are to beassociated to a particular community. The President <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> community isresp<strong>on</strong>sible in establishing c<strong>on</strong>tact and also <strong>the</strong> resp<strong>on</strong>sibility <strong>of</strong> isolate tomaintain c<strong>on</strong>tact. How does <strong>the</strong> community and isolate maintain thisc<strong>on</strong>tact? Secti<strong>on</strong> II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Statutes <strong>on</strong> isolates states very clearly how to goabout this c<strong>on</strong>tact.There are problems <strong>the</strong> community faces when names <strong>of</strong> isolates are sent to<strong>the</strong>m. We will discuss “what to do with isolates assigned to us”.First, when community receives notice from Provincial Council <strong>of</strong> anisolate assigned, <strong>the</strong> community should have in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> about <strong>the</strong> status <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> isolate. Are <strong>the</strong>y definitively pr<strong>of</strong>essed or still <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong>? Ifdefinitively pr<strong>of</strong>essed how many years, are <strong>the</strong>y keeping up with changesevolving with <strong>the</strong> Order and are <strong>the</strong>y committed to <strong>the</strong>ir promises? If <strong>the</strong>yhave not been in touched with changes, <strong>the</strong>y should be given <strong>the</strong> Rule <strong>of</strong> StAlbert, <strong>the</strong> C<strong>on</strong>stituti<strong>on</strong>s and Oklahoma Province Statutes. They should atleast attend <strong>on</strong>e meeting to meet members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> community and <strong>the</strong> LocalCouncil should evaluate if catch up <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> is needed. Formati<strong>on</strong>guidelines will be followed in all cases <strong>of</strong> catch up. <strong>Isolate</strong> should give <strong>the</strong>community record <strong>of</strong> promises. We know as stated <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> Statutes that <strong>the</strong>President could delegate <strong>the</strong> m<strong>on</strong>thly c<strong>on</strong>tact to any member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>community who is willing to assume that resp<strong>on</strong>sibility. Discussi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong>Spiritual C<strong>on</strong>ferences and discussi<strong>on</strong>s during <strong>on</strong>-going <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> tape orwritten as a summary <strong>of</strong> activities should be sent by <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tact pers<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong>isolate. As stated in <strong>the</strong> Statutes could be d<strong>on</strong>e ei<strong>the</strong>r via snail mail,teleph<strong>on</strong>e or e-mail. It is encouraged to meet with community at least <strong>on</strong>ce ayear.<strong>Isolate</strong>s requiring <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong>s should be handled <strong>the</strong> same as if <strong>the</strong>y arecoming to meetings regularly. First it should be established where <strong>the</strong>y are in<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong>. The steps d<strong>on</strong>e during aspirants with <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>m <strong>of</strong> applicati<strong>on</strong> andclothing should apply. Local Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> community should seriously beinvolved in discernment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> isolate with <strong>the</strong> isolate with <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tact

pers<strong>on</strong> as a resource. Secti<strong>on</strong> XXI Formati<strong>on</strong> Guidelines is to be followed. They have to attend <strong>on</strong>ce a year meeting preferably at annual retreat.Sometimes Provincial Council will send to community an isolatetransferring from ano<strong>the</strong>r Province. If definitively pr<strong>of</strong>essed, <strong>the</strong>re should berecords <strong>of</strong> transfer from <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mer community <strong>of</strong> isolate or maybe a membertransferring to places where distance to nearest community is a problem.<strong>Isolate</strong> should be with <strong>on</strong> going <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> new community. Those <strong>on</strong><str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> should be required to submit <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> program taken from<str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mer community and <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tinues following <str<strong>on</strong>g>for</str<strong>on</strong>g>mati<strong>on</strong> guidelines.I hope this will clarify some questi<strong>on</strong>s about isolates.Amelia H.
