However, there are doubtswhether these are being applied correctly in practice.Our experience is that firms are making far fewerreports than anticipated. Is this because there arefewer crimes or that people are failing to report them?The 3rd EU Money Laundering Directive requiredmember states to issue revised Regulations and thelatest Regulations came into effect in the UK on 15December 2007. Regulators expect these Regulationsto be complied with. The environment becomes evenmore challenging after 1 July <strong>2011</strong> as a result of theBribery Act 2010 which will lead to more suspicion ofcriminal offences having taken place.
