Cateringto hospital staff, visitors and patients, it offersa pleasant diversion to the serious comingsand-goingsof the medical center. Volunteers whorun the shop have an opportunity to bring smilesto people’s faces, whether ringing up a sale offlowers for a visitor’s ailing friend or suggestingbirthday ideas to a busy nurse.“The foremost goal of our volunteers is toprovide a comforting place where family andfriends of patients can get away from the hospitalatmosphere, if only for a few moments, for abreak, a smile, a laugh,” Wahl says. “Listening iswhat we do best!”Continued on page 8Welcoming new volunteers!Do you like interacting with people?
