TOURNAMENT RULES1. Only members of the Nation’s Capital Area USBC Association (NCAUSBCA) are eligible tobowl in the tournament. Non-members living within the jurisdiction of this <strong>association</strong> who are notmembers of another <strong>association</strong> may enter by paying an affiliate membership fee of $21.00. Paymentof co-<strong>association</strong> fees for membership will not be accepted at the tournament sites.2. Bowlers entered in the Singles event must also enter the Doubles event and vice versa.3. Bowlers must present USBC 2012-2013 membership cards and confirm lineup as shown on entryform at the lanes at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled time. Team or bowlers failing to appear onthe lanes prepared to bowl at the scheduled time shall forfeit their entry unless sufficient reason isgiven to warrant postponement.4. The Team Captain or his/her legal representative has the privilege of substituting other bowlers forthose originally entered. Once a substitute has started competition, the original entrant may notreplace the substitute.5. In the Doubles event, the names of both entrants must be given. Entries with the word “PARTNER” willnot be accepted.6. The Doubles event will be bowled immediately following the Singles event. In both events,bowlers ages 55 and older (born on or before April 6, 1958) may enter the optional Senior Singlesand/or Senior All Events.7. The schedule will show the lane number on which teams will start. All entrants will bowl 3 games onone pair of lanes in each event, unless mechanical failures dictate otherwise.8. The entry fee is $30.00 per bowler per event ($11.70 lineage, $14.30 prize fee, and $4.00 expensefee). All optional events include a $1 expense fee. No entry money will be refunded if it is discoveredthat a team or individual has failed to comply with all rules of the United States Bowling Congress andall rules and requirements of this tournament.9. Handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler’s highest NCAUSBCA 2011-2012 yearbook average and a scratch figure of 1,150 for Teams; 460 for Doubles; 230 forSingles; or 2,070 for All Events. All handicaps will be calculated on a 3-game basis. It shallbe the responsibility of each bowler to verify his/her average. Failure to use proper averageshall disqualify scores bowled if submitted average is lower than actual average. Prizewinnings will be based on submitted average if it is higher than the actual average. Averagecorrections must be made prior to the completion of the first game. USBC RULE 319a (2)— THE “10-PIN” RULE — WILL APPLY.10. If a bowler does not have a previous season’s NCAUSBCA yearbook average, the bowler may usethe highest current NCAUSBCA-certified average (of 21 or more games) as of the closing date forentries of the tournament (March 15, 2013); otherwise, the bowler must enter with an averageof 230. If using current average, a league sheet showing average as of March 15, 2013 must bepresented to Tournament Officials at check-in. If bowler does not have a NCAUSBCA 2011-2012yearbook or current (2012-2013) average and competed in a 2012 summer league in thisjurisdiction, that average, of at least 21 games, may be used provided it is documented atthe NCAUSBCA office. USBC RULES 319c, 319d, and 319e WILL APPLY.11. The prize ratio for each event will be one prize for each six entries. PRIZE MONEY WILL BERETURNED 100%.12. In the event of ties for first place (Team, Doubles, or Singles), the tied contestants will bowl 3 gamesin accordance with the rules of the tournament at such time and place as decided by the TournamentDirector. Total pins, including handicap, for the 3 games will determine the winner. In the event of atie for first place in the All Events, USBC Rule 326a will apply.13. Entrants must report any previous tournament prize winnings in the last year of $600.00 or more(USBC Rule 319d). If entrant has won $600.00 or more, he/she must submit all tournament scores(USBC Rule 319e) with official entry form.14. PARTICIPATION RULEBowlers may enter Singles and Doubles two (2) times, as long as Doubles partners change.Bowlers may only cash once in Singles. Bowlers may enter the Team event three (3)times, as long as two (2) members of the team change. First score in each event will counttowards All Events total.


15. All Events is not transferable unless substitute is replacing a bowler in all three events and it is sostated in writing before bowling any event as a substitute.16. Scores lost due to malfunction of automatic scorers shall be re-bowled.17. USBC Rule 328 will apply. (A bowler must use the same hand to deliver the bowling ball throughoutthe tournament).18. USBC Rule 329, a protest or appeal involving eligibility or playing rules must be filed with theTournament Committee, NCAUSBCA, or USBC no later than 10 days after the completion of thetournament. The protest or appeal must be in writing, and the grounds for the protest or appealbriefly stated.19. The Tournament Director reserves the right to refuse any entrant into the brackets competition andmay request his/her Social Security Number when an IRS Form 1099 may be issued for winnings.20. Checks returned for “insufficient funds” will incur a $35.00 administrative fee, plus theamount of the submitted check, all of which must be paid before the team will be permittedto compete in the tournament. The Tournament Director reserves the right to refuse a check if theperson submitting the check has previously had a check returned for “insufficient funds.”SCRATCH EVENTSBowlers must compete in regular tournament to enter scratch events.
