We aim to address inequalities in theprovision of education and healthcare, and to tackle gender discrimination through education and empowerment.With 80% of India’s population living in rural areas an iSpiice volunteer program takes you to the very heart of India. Ourprograms are located in Dharamsala, in the Kangra Valley district of Himachal Pradesh. Full of life yet also peaceful Dharamsalais surrounded by the Himalayan mountain range. Not surprisingly His Holiness the Dali Lama holds residency inthe area which is also home to the Tibetan government in exile.Indian hospitality is legendary and the fact that you are coming to offer your assistance ensures you will be welcomedwith a warm smile and heartfelt ‘Namaste!’ not to mention daily offerings of ‘chai’ as a gesture of kindness and gratitude.

Quality Volunteering ExperienceThe iSpiice Volunteer Approach:A unique combination of a quality volunteering experience, cultural immersion and excursionsWork CommitmentVolunteers typically work form Monday to Friday for 2 hoursin the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon, taking a break inbetween for lunch and lesson preparation at the iSpiicevolunteer house.Evenings and weekends are free, and volunteers who wish toparticipate in extracurricular activities can take part in ourworkshops for groups of older children, these workshopstend to focus on English, basic IT skills, or other educationaland creative subjects.Following afternoon work volunteers may take up renovationand decoration of their various work places in schools or daycarecenters. This usually involves clearing, cleaning, whitewash and decorative painting.

Golden Temple - AmritsarAdd-On ToursThe state of Punjab borders Himachal Pradesh and is known for its Holy City of Amritsar and the Golden Temple. TheGolden Temple is a breathtaking sight and provides a sense of serenity in an otherwise bustling city.Pilgrims to the Golden Temple immerse themselves in the surrounding waters, known as 'The Pool of Nectar' which offers asymbolic cleansing of the soul.Amritsar is also the venue for the 'Wagha Border' guard ceremony of the Indian and Pakistani Army. Crowds gather to witnessthe theatrics and it is an amazing spectacle not to be missed!
