Anniversary ShowThe Anniversary Show presented by the Koninklijke Vereniging “Het FrieschPaarden-Stamboek” promises an evening of excitement and adventureFor the organizers of the Anniversary Show, last Monday was a very excitingday. They spent the entire day visiting locations to see the various parts of theAnniversary Show that will be presented in the WTC Expo in Leeuwarden inOctober of this year.During this evening show, Friesian horses will make a trip around the world.From their birthplace in Friesland, these “leading characters” will visit variouscountries in a per<strong>for</strong>mance sure to enthrall the audience all evening long.What you can expect is a complete story, just as you would get when you goto the cinema or theatre: the Friesian horse as the star in an evening of excitementand adventure.A special training session was held on Monday evening <strong>for</strong> the act dedicatedto Austria. Under the direction of Esther Liano, eight riders on four Friesianand four Andalusian horses per<strong>for</strong>med with eight pairs of dancers <strong>for</strong> a shownever be<strong>for</strong>e presented. This kür, especially choreographed <strong>for</strong> the anniversaryshow, is a harmonious collaboration between riders, horses and dancers. Allthe dancers are from Dance Centre Omar Smids in Leeuwarden. For them, it isa very special experience to dance surrounded by horses.For the act focusing Africa, zebras, lions, elephants and rhinos are in the making.The creative team busy on producing these animals that will play rolesin the <strong>KFPS</strong> anniversary show has thought of everything to make these propsa sight to see. More than sixty <strong>members</strong> of the show staff have been workingunder the direction of Jolanda Schreuder to create these African animals.The enthusiastic volunteers can be found at least twice a week at the Schreuder-Minkemafamily’s home where they are working on the “birth” of variousanimals that will be taking part in the per<strong>for</strong>mance. Hour after hour is spenton shaping chicken wire, cutting and sewing material, and working with papier-mâché.The results are sure to be absolutely stunning!Together with the Friesian horses, the per<strong>for</strong>mance of these animals will make<strong>for</strong> a wonderful show.Both the director and the staff of the show organization committee are extremelypleased with the per<strong>for</strong>mances that the <strong>members</strong> of the show staff andthe volunteers have put together. “After seeing what we saw last Monday, wecan ensure the visitors to the Anniversary Show of a grand spectacular show,”says Joke Miedema of the <strong>KFPS</strong>.3
