Class Room StandardsStandardso Students are to follow all JCPS & MHS rules/standards.o Students are to follow the Class Expectations that are given out the 1st day of class & can befound posted in class & on the class web site.o For homework/effort work, class work, etc. one point will be deducted for each class dayhomework assignments are late beyond due date defined by the Red Book. Work is defined aslate if it is not turned in when asked for in class (e.g. If students are asked to turn in work at thebeginning of class & student turns in the work during the middle of class because they just found itor completed it; 1 point would be deducted for being a day late).o For projects, 10% will be deducted for each day (NOT CLASS DAY) that projects are late beyondthe due date (e.g. Projects are due Friday & the student turns in the project on Tuesday when theclass meets next: 40% deduction because the project was 4 days late).o It is the students responsibility to obtain their make up work (posted on class website & past weekposted on side board in class) & turn it in before considered late as defined in the Red Book. It isthe students’ responsibility to arrange for make up test within the allowed makeup time as definedin the Red Book. I DO NOT stay after school to give makeup exams. Zeros will be given for test ifnot made up in the time allowed.o There is NO individual extra credit and the vast majority of extra credit is only available at thebeginning of each semester. Additionally, virtually all-possible extra credit for a semester isdefined by the middle of the semester or before.Forms of Assessment & Grading ScaleExams, quizzes, class participation, homework/effort work, class work, projects & writing are used toassess the students’ performance.GRADING SCALEA 93%-100%B 86% - 92%C 79% - 85%D 70% - 78%U 0% - 69%GRADING STANDARDS40% Tests/Quizzes40% Projects/Writing/Calc work/Group work20% Homework/Effort workThe instructor reserves the right to change the Grading Standards percentages as long as they staywithin JCPS or duPont Manual guidelines & they are changed near the beginning of the semester.Makeup Work/Absences: If you are absent for any reason, it is your responsibility to obtain allmaterials missed, including notes, homework solutions, assignments, etc. It is a good idea to choosesomeone in class that you can call or email if you are absent. The timeline for turning in makeupwork is outlined in your student planner. If you miss an exam or quiz, you will take an alternateversion of the assessment immediately upon your return. Any assignments due on the day you missmust be handed in immediately upon your return. Since exams are announced well in advance, missing the class period before an exam does not get you out of taking the exam on the scheduleddate. If you are in class on the scheduled date of an exam or quiz, you will take it.
