<strong>Fediquin</strong> ®<strong>Hydroquinone</strong>Pharmacological properties<strong>Fediquin</strong> ® hydroquinone is a skin bleaching agent. It slows downthe production of melanin pigment in the skin, as a result thedarkened skin gradually fades to match normal skin.Indications<strong>Fediquin</strong> ® is indicated for the gradual bleaching ofhyperpigmented skin conditions such as chloasma, melasma,freckles, old age spots and other unwanted areas of melaninhyperpigmentation.Dosage and administrationUsual adult dose:Apply a thin film of <strong>Fediquin</strong> ® to the affected area twice daily, andrub it well into skin. Most discolorations begin to lighten after fourweeks of treatment but it may take longer. After desired bleaching,use only as needed to maintain results. Satisfactory results areusually seen within two months.Usual children dose:Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 12 have notbeen established.Use in pregnancy and lactation:PregnancyPregnancy category C. It should be used in pregnant women onlywhen clearly indicated.


LactationCaution is advised when topical hydroquinone is used by nursingmother since it is not known whether it is absorbed or excreted inhuman milk.ContraindicationsPrior history of sensitivity or allergic reaction to hydroquinone orany of the ingredients.Precautions- Test for skin sensitivity before using hydroquinone byapplying it to an unbroken patch of skin. If no rednessor itching occurs within 24 hours, begin treatment.- Avoid sun exposure during treatment by application ofa sunscreen or by wearing protective clothing toprevent darkening from recurring.- If no bleaching effect is noted after two months oftreatment, discontinue the use.- Do not use hydroquinone for the prevention of sunburn.WarningsThe product contains sodium metabisulfite, a sulfite that maycause serious allergic type reactions (e.g. hives, itching, wheezing,anaphylaxis, severe asthma attacks) in certain susceptiblepersons.Side effectsNo systemic adverse reactions have been reported. Occasionalhypersensitivity may occur.


OverdoseThere have been no systemic reactions from the use of topicalhydroquinone. Some patients experience a transient skinreddening and a mild burning sensation.Presentation<strong>Fediquin</strong> ® 4% cream: <strong>Hydroquinone</strong> 40mg/gm.(Available in different pack sizes).
