<strong>Ravenhall</strong> <strong>Prison</strong> <strong>Project</strong>Forensic Secondary Mental Health (FSMH) ServicesDefinition• A specialty area <strong>of</strong> mental health <strong>and</strong> different to mental healthservices largely due to the complexities associated in theassessment, treatment <strong>and</strong> management <strong>of</strong> persons with a seriousmental illness coupled with <strong>of</strong>fending behaviour or at risk <strong>of</strong><strong>of</strong>fending.• These persons <strong>of</strong>ten display severe <strong>and</strong> enduring symptoms <strong>of</strong>mental illness <strong>and</strong> associated high risk <strong>and</strong> aggressive behaviours.• Forensic mental health services are required to assess, treat <strong>and</strong>manage the underlying mental illness <strong>and</strong> related behaviours, inaddition to providing ongoing clinical assessment <strong>of</strong> risk in relation toself-harm, harm to others <strong>and</strong> re<strong>of</strong>fending.
