Introductionable <strong>to</strong> account for my learning over this time. I want <strong>to</strong> be able <strong>to</strong> come <strong>to</strong> someunderst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> role <strong>of</strong> what it means <strong>to</strong> be an Assistant Headteacher. I alsowant <strong>to</strong> be able <strong>to</strong> reflect on my own growing sense <strong>of</strong> educative practice incomparison <strong>to</strong> my underst<strong>and</strong>ing from sequence 1 <strong>and</strong> sequence 2 <strong>of</strong> this study. Thissection aims <strong>to</strong> reflect <strong>the</strong> difficulties associated with managing transition betweenroles <strong>and</strong> schools <strong>and</strong> account for how I tried <strong>to</strong> <strong>do</strong> this <strong>myself</strong>.Within this section I want <strong>to</strong> argue that holding on<strong>to</strong> my own sense <strong>of</strong> values <strong>and</strong>beliefs is what helped me <strong>to</strong> deal with this transition. I argue that keeping in <strong>to</strong>uchwith significant o<strong>the</strong>rs is crucial in order <strong>to</strong> support transition. I also want <strong>to</strong> argue thatdealing with <strong>the</strong> sense <strong>of</strong> change is vastly under-valued <strong>and</strong> that <strong>the</strong>re needs <strong>to</strong> be aheightened awareness <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> impact <strong>of</strong> change on individuals.Sequence 4 The FutureThroughout this section I want <strong>to</strong> look at <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>r implications <strong>of</strong> this <strong>the</strong>sis <strong>and</strong>argue that those who engage with <strong>the</strong> text can gain from it. I explore how my journeyhas identified some key issues which I believe need <strong>to</strong> be embraced <strong>through</strong><strong>education</strong>. I return <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> original contributions that I make <strong>to</strong> knowledge <strong>through</strong> this<strong>the</strong>sis <strong>and</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>r clarify <strong>the</strong>m. I explore <strong>the</strong> nature <strong>of</strong> teacher-research <strong>and</strong> supportmy claims <strong>through</strong> reference <strong>to</strong> teacher-researchers. I argue that practitioneraccounts need <strong>to</strong> be valued <strong>and</strong> circumstances need <strong>to</strong> be established <strong>to</strong> support <strong>the</strong>work <strong>of</strong> teacher-researchers in order <strong>to</strong> improve <strong>the</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> <strong>education</strong>al researchthat is emerging.You will now move in<strong>to</strong> Sequence 1 where I will initially reflect on my own values thatI hold as an educa<strong>to</strong>r <strong>and</strong> explain <strong>the</strong> key original contributions <strong>to</strong> knowledge that I<strong>of</strong>fer <strong>through</strong> this <strong>the</strong>sis.20
