(submitted)V. Observatory VisitorsThe Vatican Observatory at Castel Gandolfo and the Vatican Observatory ResearchGroup in Tucson, Arizona, hosted a number of visitors during the year. Noteworthywere the number of school groups and cultural groups received by MAFFEO, assistedby KOCH, at Castel Gandolfo. We were especially happy to receive members of thePontifical Academy of Sciences and officials of the Vatican Congregation for Religious. The close approach of Mars to Earth in late August and early September brought manyvisitors to the Observatory, among them Mrs. Kathryn Colvin, Ambassador from theUnited Kingdom to the Holy See.The following individuals paid working visits to the Observatory:MARCELO ARAÚJO, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil46
