Support Classes (per class)SaturdaySundayPractice Session 1 Practice Session 2Race 1 Race 4Race 2 Race 5Race 3 Race 61810.02 When conditions necessitate deviation from this format, announcements of any<strong>changes</strong> will be made by the Race Director at the driver’s meeting or throughout theday (as required).1810.03 Changes may include the number of boats that in the opinion of the Race Directorwould be a safe field on the racecourse, at the same time.1810.04 The committee may also alter the standard race format to provide for other classes.1811 THE COURSE1811.01 The Race Director will be responsible for specifying the racecourse design and lengthafter taking into account the following factors:The layout of the waterway (sand banks, width of river etc)Location of spectator viewing area/s.Timing / timers location and in turn the location of the start finish buoy.Location required for the dock/beach starts and subsequent straight line to firstturn buoy.Positioning of the first turn so that it can be filmed from both the safety boat andthe land (perpendicular to the first turn buoy).1811.02 Refer to Group 600 rules of the APBA book for other rules that apply in relation to thecourse1812 QUALIFYING, LAPS, STARTS AND RESTARTS1812.1 QUALIFYING1812.1 All boats must complete a minimum of two laps in each official qualifying session.1812.1.1 <strong>Boat</strong>s will qualify under “Hot Lap” conditions.1812.1.2 Each driver will complete one timed “hot” lap. The pole positions will be determinedon times – fastest hot lap wining Pole 1, second fastest Pole 2, etc.1812.1.3 <strong>Boat</strong>s not completing any laps in qualifying will only be permitted to start at the rear ofthe grid or on a delayed start if the grid is already at its maximum capacity, and at thediscretion of the Race Director.1812.1.4 In the event that two or more boats have the same hot lap times, the affected boatswill be asked to complete a second “hot lap”.1812.1.5 The fastest time taken out of the second set of hot laps will secure the higher polepositions out of the tied boats.1812.1.6 The second set of times taken will not be compared against the rest of the group’stimes.1812.1.7 The starting positions of subsequent races in the event will be determined by thefinishing positions of each boat in the preceding race.1812.2 CONSOLATION RACE1812.2.1 A consolation race may be held before the first race for a class only if the number ofqualified entrants exceeds what is to be considered by the Race Director to be thesafe number of boats to be run on the course at one time, and at the discretion of theRace Director.
