Housing DiversityKey to a HealthyCommunity<strong>Streamwood</strong> HonorsThose Who Gave the Greatest GiftOn a beautiful sunny, Sunday morning, veterans and residents, young and not-so-young, gathered along witharea leaders and service personnel at the <strong>Streamwood</strong> Memorial to honor those who gave their lives in serviceto their country. The bugler sounded “Assembly” to open the program, which included comments from<strong>Village</strong> President Billie D. Roth, Lt. Aaron Kleinman and retired Sgt. Major Sergio Estrada, Jr., bagpipes,drums, color guards and the <strong>Streamwood</strong> High School band. As the band played, the flags for each servicebranch rose to the top <strong>of</strong> their pole. The U. S. Flag was a “weary warrior” flag which had flown over the U. S.Army hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. It was permanently “retired” after this Observance. Those in theaudience paid tribute to their military brothers and sisters who paid the price for our freedom.Over the weekend, many area residents visited the traveling Vietnam Wall and remembered those who gavetheir all to protect and preserve our country’s freedom. The Veterans Commission wishes to thank all who participatedin the Memorial Weekend activities and asks that you continue to support those who serve in thearmed forces.
