Key Stage 3 NewsYear 7 Food TechnologyThe food produced in lessons by Year 7 this term has been extraordinary accordingto Mrs Payne. Seen here are some of the imaginative creations produced withsalad. The salads had to be created to be colourful and appeal to certain individualsor groups, for example, children or the elderly.Beautiful, creative andhealthy salads fromYear 7 students.Pop ArtAs visitors to the school will have seen, Year 8 have really done themselves proudwith their art project “Pop Art” . Most students chose to scale up everyday itemsand the results, as you can see, are spectacular!Newick Primary/Year 8 Picture BooksChailey’s collaboration withour feeder primary schoolshas continued with a groupof Year 8 students creatingpicture books for smallchildren with Year 5 fromNewick Primary School.Thirty-five children visitedChailey and our studentsread them stories whichwere shared, discussed andevaluated. Using this asPage 6inspiration, they then workedtogether to create newpicture book stories. Key Stage 4 NewsMFL PrefectsIntroducing the recently appointed MFL(Modern Foreign Language) prefects! Theyare able to help students in French,German and Spanish as they are allexcellent linguists! Don’t be shy in askingfor help with homework or assessmentpreparation. They can help you inregistration time in the afternoon, if youask for help. They are Oliver Platt, TomStone, Rhiannon Goss and RozzieMcNamara. Make use of their talents!FM to choose pcitureMs. MorrowAS Level Students in FrenchRecently Year 10 studentswere joined by some ASLevel students from SussexDowns College. Thiscollaboration will encouragestudents to think abouttaking languages once theyleave Chailey as well asmaking the lessons morediverse and enjoyable. TheCollege students also saidthat they valued being ableto pass on their knowledge.Thank you to Mr Verniol forarranging the visit.Karate Black-Belt for Tim RogersTim started karatelessons after school inFebruary 2004 when hewas 6 years old and hehas been going eversince. Amazingly he hasnow achieved his blackbelt showing hiscommitment to the sport,fitness and discipline overa 10 year period. Timsaid that he found it verytiring and had to put inlots of practiceparticularly combined withstudying for his GCSEs.We would like tocongratulate Tim on hisfantastic achievement andwish him every success inthe future.Page 7
