IntroductionThis leaflet explains what the Bevan Unit is and whathappens once you have been admitted to the unit.About the Bevan UnitThe Bevan unit is a 26 bed rehabilitation and intermediatecare centre in West Thamesmead. It provides care, usuallyfor a period of no more than six weeks, to people who arenot ill enough to be in hospital, but who, for the time being,are also not well enough to be at home. The team workclosely with other health and social care services toprevent unnecessary hospital admissions and supportearly discharge from hospital.The unit is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, forpeople who are 18 years or over and registered with aGreenwich GP.During your stay, you will be cared for by a multidisciplinaryteam, who will work closely with your GP throughout yourstay.2
Facilities at the Bevan UnitYou will have your own single room, ensuring your privacyand your dignity is respected at all times.Also included is:a selection of mealsaccess to a telephonepurpose built bathroomsa television in your rooma lounge and dining areaa garden, which you can sit out inaccess to a hairdresseractivities during the week.Our teamOur nursing and therapy staff will work with you to helpyour recovery.The team includes:A modern matronThis is the most senior person in the unit who hasresponsibility for your wellbeing and stay on the unit. Themodern matron ensures that you are looked after well andthat your problems are dealt with properly.3
