Consolidated amendments to the Deed of UnionAt the start of the <strong>Conference</strong> the Sub-Committee expressed its intention to produce aconsolidated version of the proposed amendments for the information of members ofthe <strong>Conference</strong>. In order to ensure the accuracy of the consolidation, in the light of thenumber of amendments made, the Sub-Committee now proposes to put the consolidatedversion on the website, allowing time for careful checking.The Revd Kenneth G HowcroftKen Howcroft has served as Assistant Secretary of the <strong>Conference</strong> for seven years.During a period which has witnessed continuing and considerable change, and duringwhich he has served and continues to serve in other, additional roles in the ConnexionalTeam, Ken has served as Assistant Secretary with competence and total commitment tothe <strong>Conference</strong>, often at considerable personal cost. His collegiality, professionalism,helpfulness, cheerfulness, sense of humour and good grace are widely acknowledged bythose with and among whom he works. His theological acumen is coupled with acomprehensive and practical knowledge of Methodism. This he combines with aformidable expertise in summarising debates and formulating appropriate statementsand reports. Such gifts greatly benefit the <strong>Conference</strong> and the Connexion as a whole. Heis a careful listener and his pastoral care for those he deals with in a variety of contextsis greatly appreciated.Since 2008 Ken has also served as National Ecumenical Officer and now serves as Cosecretaryof the Joint Implementation Committee. He has brought to that role a cleargrasp of contemporary ecumenical developments. His ability in this role is muchappreciated and respected by ecumenical partners as he articulates a clear explanationof <strong>Methodist</strong> theology, polity and spirituality.***RESOLUTIONThe <strong>Conference</strong> expresses its profound gratitude to The Revd Kenneth G Howcroft for thefaithfulness, dedication and effectiveness with which he has exercised his ministry asAssistant Secretary of the <strong>Conference</strong> and wishes him God’s rich blessing as hecontinues his ministry in his new appointment as a disciple and presbyter of Christ.107
