She raced over 4.5km with a430m ascent in cloudy but freezingconditions. Starting conservativelyRuby moved strongly through fieldfrom about half way and had anexcellent finish just 2mins behind thewinner. It was Ruby’s first WorldChampionship event and signals agood future in the event.350 athletes from 39 nationscompeted over the various racedistances.NZ runners Jonathan Wyatt, Anna Frost,Ruby Muir, James CoubroughWBOP Secondary School’s RoadChamps, The Lakes, Tauriko22/9/10Not large fields. A cold, strong wind wasblowing across the subdivision Brad Smith& Gareth Hyett organised, using the TBCmarquee as shelter from the passingshowers. Well doneguys! While Hawks & Lake City got off toa good start running Aaron Pulford &Steve O’Callaghan first to take the lead(both recording 15.17) we had the depth inthe ranks as the race progressed. Ben rantwice due to a late withdrawal by GarethHyett.
