Thetechnology, know-how and software tools for reducing this consumption by 20 - 30%already exist, however these are not widely applied.The 4E Electric Motor Systems Annex raises worldwide awareness of the efficiencypotential of motor systems and provides guidance and tools to exploit this. EMSA’s workfocuses on the following areas:! Motor Systems Policy. EMSA presentsinternational experience on successfuland comprehensive motor policies.! Testing. EMSA provides guidance forrepeatable and accurate motor testingfor its Testing Centres Network members.! International Standards. EMSA works forglobally harmonized and robust technicalstandards for the classification and testingof motors and variable frequency drivesthrough representation in standardsworking groups, and for implementingmotor systems management as part ofthe energy management systemsstandard ISO 50001.! Capacity Building. EMSA designstools for optimal system design andpresents the results to theengineering community.! Bridge to SEAD 1 . EMSA works withSEAD to mutually benefit from theaccumulated knowledge of bothinitiatives. Common topics of interestare compliance, certification andenforcement requirements for motors.EMSA supports SEAD in the GlobalEfficiency Medal competition for electricmotors, selecting the world’s mostefficient motor.EMSA provides a forum for the direct and in-depth exchange between memberson their experience with motor systems efficiency policy, as well as vehicle forcollaborative projects.
