In addition to holding records from individualchurches in the diocese, the <strong>Record</strong> <strong>Office</strong> also holds <strong>Blackburn</strong> Diocesanadministrative records (DRB) and records for <strong>Blackburn</strong> Area Deanery (RUBN) and<strong>Darwen</strong> Deanery Chapter (PR3147 acc 9706).<strong>Lancashire</strong> <strong>Record</strong> <strong>Office</strong> also functions as diocesan record office for the RomanCatholic diocese of Salford, which includes the <strong>Blackburn</strong> and <strong>Darwen</strong> area. Inaddition to holding records from individual churches in the diocese, the <strong>Record</strong><strong>Office</strong> holds 'register returns' for many of the Roman Catholic parishes among thediocesan archive collection (RCSF). Not all of these are fully open to publicinspection.The <strong>Record</strong> <strong>Office</strong> also holds a lot of non-register material for Non-Conformistchurches including:• Circuit plans, minutes and other administrative records from the 1780s for<strong>Blackburn</strong> Methodist Circuit (MBN), and for <strong>Darwen</strong> Methodist Circuit (MDA)• <strong>Record</strong>s of the <strong>Blackburn</strong> Preparative meeting of the Society of Friends,1824-1979 (FRP18). This meeting was affiliated to the Preston MonthlyMeeting until 2002 and to the Marsden Monthly Meeting from 1 Jan 2003;records relating to <strong>Blackburn</strong> Quakers will be found in those collections.• Congregational Union administrative records for <strong>Blackburn</strong> district,1830-1972(CUBK) as well as non-register material for Congregational and UnitedReformed churches in <strong>Blackburn</strong> (CUBL), <strong>Darwen</strong> (CUDA) and Edgworth(CUED).46
