Saarbrücken City Tour with Medieval
Christmas Market
Saturday, December 8
Are you ready to join us on this new special tour to
Saarbrücken in the neighboring state of Saarland? Saarbrücken,
Saarland’s capital city, boasts a definite French
flair due to its proximity to the French border. This is
evident not only in its cuisine, but also in its relaxed lifestyle,
or savoir vivre. During the Christmas season, the
city is especially charming with its St. Johanner Christmas
market, nestled around the old town’s market square. The
Christmas market extends throughout Saarbrücken’s
shopping mile that boasts large department stores and a
modern city mall, the Europa Gallery. We’ll start our day
with a guided tour of Saarbrücken, a showcase of baroque
architecture. Our local guide will take us to little known
corners off the beaten path. The churches will be especially
beautiful in the advent season. We will have free time for
the Christmas market in this bustling shopper’s paradise,
but if shopping isn’t your “bag” or if your Christmas list
is completely checked off, you can make an optional visit
with our local guide to the casemates underneath the city’s
palace. The daily “Flying Santa” performance is a special
treat that you won’t want to miss. This weekend, Saarland
will host a unique medieval Christmas market which we
will also visit. We’ll step back in time, sample the wares
of the craftsmen, and watch the exciting fire shows. Take
in the scents and sounds of this authentic, enchanting
market. We hope you will join us for this special outing to
the Saarland, and after this introduction, you will want to
return again and again. Tour price includes transportation,
guided tour with local guide, and a USO tour guide.
