8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION(i)PRECAUTIONS (from product label)Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonablypracticable in addition to the following personal protective equipment:WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE CLOTHING (COVERALLS) AND SUITABLEPROTECTIVE GLOVES WHEN HANDLING THE CONCENTRATE.WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTIVE GLOVES when handling contaminated surfaces.However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment ifa COSHH assessment shows that they provide an equal or higher standard ofprotection.WASH CONCENTRATE from skin or eyes immediately.WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before meals and after work.AVOID ALL CONTACT WITH SKIN OR EYES.DO NOT BREATHE SPRAY.WHEN USING DO NOT EAT, DRINK OR SMOKE.IF YOU FEEL UNWELL, seek medical advice (show label where possible).Environmental protectionDo not contaminate surface waters or ditches with chemical or used container.DO NOT ALLOW DIRECT SPRAY from horizontal boom sprayers to fall within 5mof the top of the bank of a static or flowing waterbody, unless a Local EnvironmentRisk Assessment for Pesticides (LERAP) permits a narrower buffer zone, or within1 m of the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application. Aim spray away fromwater.This product qualifies for inclusion within the Local Environment Risk Assessmentfor Pesticides (LERAP) scheme. Before each spraying operation from a horizontalboom sprayer, either a LERAP must be carried out in accordance with PSD’spublished guidance or the statutory buffer zone must be maintained. The results ofthe LERAP must be recorded and kept available for inspection for three years.Storage and disposalKEEP AWAY FROM FOOD, DRINK AND ANIMAL FEEDING STUFFS.KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.KEEP IN ORIGINAL CONTAINER tightly closed, in a safe place.RINSE CONTAINER THOROUGHLY by using an integrated pressure rinsingdevice or manually rinsing three times. (ii) PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTIn tests with a range of pesticide products, protective gloves made of nitrile rubberat least 0.5 mm thick and 300 mm long have been found to be the most suitable.Gloves made of viton, butyl rubber, neoprene and PVC can also offer goodprotection. Gloves must protect the whole hand and wrist and should be thoroughlywashed after each operation.The wearing of other personal protective equipment may be required to supplementthe items listed above. These are described in the DEFRA publication “Code ofpractice for using plant protection products”. Decontaminate all personal protectiveequipment after use.
