WHAT WE DOLINAK IN BRIEFLINAK IS AN INTERNATIONAL COMPANY,FOUNDED ON ELECTRIC LINEAR ACTUATIONLINAK has gone through a remarkable transformationsince being established back in 1907. WhenBent Jensen, CEO and owner, took over the familycompany in 1976 he brought a brand new idea withhim. An idea which led to the development of thevery first linear actuator in 1980.LINAK Group Headquarters in Denmark spansover 38,000 m² of development and productionfacilities. Production facilities are also found inthe US, China and Slovakia.It soon became obvious that this new invention hadan even larger potential than anyone could haveimagined. WHAT WE DOHISTORYThe company was founded in 1907 byBent Jensen’s grandfather under thename “Christian Jensen Maskinbygger”.Bent Jensen,CEO and ownerLINAK has gone through quite a transformationsince is was established under the nameof Christian Jensen Maskinfabrik (ChristianJensen Machine Builder) in 1907 by thegrandfather of LINAK’s CEO and owner.When Bent Jensen took over in 1976, thecompany manufactured flat belt and V-beltpulleys, grinding mills for preparation ofcorn and forges to technical schools. Somethingquite different from the-state-of-theartproducts, which are manufactured atLINAK today.BENT JENSEN TAKES OVER THECOMPANYWhen Bent Jensen graduated as a mechanicalengineer in 1976 he had big plans. Hewanted to go abroad to work and create acareer for himself. His father, however, want-ed him to take over his company ChristianJensen og Sønner (Christian Jensen & Sons).But the young engineer was not thrilled bythe idea of running a family business withseven employees.His father managed to persuade him intogiving it a try, and Bent Jensen gave himselffive years to develop a new product. Whileworking on his idea the existing productionwas rationalised and after only three yearshis goal was achieved: The linear actuator,which he launched in 1979.DEVELOPMENT OF THE FIRSTACTUATORWhen Bent Jensen was still a student a friendof his lost his mobility in an accident and becamedependent on a wheelchair.
