JDF files provide accurate data and remove some potential mistakes from theworkflow. <strong>Preps</strong> can use the information in a JDF file to construct the signature list, the run list or both.• <strong>Preps</strong> can import JDF files from a management information system (MIS) using JDF strippingparameters. All imposition information specified during estimating can be passed to <strong>Preps</strong> todetermine the correct template or signature to use. If no suitable signature can be found, <strong>Preps</strong>automatically creates signature placeholders, which you can resolve manually.• <strong>Preps</strong> can also export JDF (using the JDF imposition process) back to any MIS that can process JDFfiles in a compatible manner, so any imposition information missing from the initial estimate can beappended to the MIS records. When you import a JDF file, <strong>Preps</strong> attempts to automatically associatea matching signature to the job.Automatic and manual signature resolution• When you import a JDF file, <strong>Preps</strong> attempts to automatically associate a matching signature to thejob, based on information contained in the JDF file. <strong>FAQ</strong>Why won't the <strong>Preps</strong> <strong>5.1</strong> installer I downloaded from the Creo Web site accept my password?If you download the <strong>Preps</strong> <strong>5.1</strong> installer from the Creo Web site and try to run it with your old <strong>Preps</strong> 4series password, it will not run. This is because <strong>Preps</strong> 5.x is a chargeable upgrade. When you purchasethe <strong>Preps</strong> 5.x upgrade, we will send you an upgrade CD and a new <strong>Preps</strong> 5.x series password. The<strong>Preps</strong> 5.x installers have been posted on the Creo Web site as a convenience for customers who havealready purchased the upgrade, but may have lost their CD.See below for more information on purchasing <strong>Preps</strong> 5.x and free upgrades as part of a full supportcontract.How long will it take to process my upgrade order?The average amount of time for you to receive your order is approximately 3 to 4 days.Do I need a new password to run <strong>Preps</strong> <strong>5.1</strong>?Yes. If you have registered your copy of <strong>Preps</strong> with Creo, you will be shipped the upgradeautomatically.I have a Creo Full Support contract on <strong>Preps</strong>; do I have to pay for the upgrade?No. Customers with a Creo Full Support contract on either <strong>Preps</strong> or Brisque can receive one <strong>Preps</strong> <strong>5.1</strong>upgrade for each qualifying item under Full Support at no charge, as part of their Full Support entitlementpackage. <strong>Preps</strong> Full Support customers in North America should call +1.800.472.2727 or+1.800.800.2500 to order their free upgrade.
