SINONThe Q-switched Ruby LaserSystem for the Removal ofTattoos and Pigmented SkinAlterationsLaser Technologie AG

The SINON is a Q-switched ruby laser system with a wavelengthof 694 nm. It is ideally suited for the removal of tattoos (traumaticand ornamental) and epidermal and dermal pigmented alterations.SINON ApplicationsTraceless: Pigment RemovalHaving been in use around the world for many years, ruby lasersystems have proven their effectiveness and versatility in the treatmentof various skin conditions. With a wavelength of 694 nm,this laser type is ideally suited to the removal of variously coloredtattoos (traumatic and ornamental) and dermal and epidermalpigmented alterations (e.g. café-au-lait spots, lentigo benigna andnaevus ota).Operating theSINON Laser SystemControllable: The Divergent Laser BeamThe utmost of attention was given to safety when developing the SINONruby laser system. This is the reason why the laser beam emitted by theSINON is divergent (i.e. the beam diameter increases as its distance to itstarget surface increases). In contrast, the energy density of the convergentbeam emitted by many other ruby laser systems increases as the distancebetween the beam and the skin increases. Inadvertent laser beam emissionfrom a greater distance can therefore lead to skin burning and scarformation. This danger does not exist in the case of the SINON laser system. The color components of tattoos and the pigmented structuresof skin alterations are pulverized into tiny particles by the pressurewaves that are created by the laser beam. These tiny particles arepartially removed internally via phagocytosis and partially expelledvia scab formation. Given that the method does not affect nonpigmenteddermal cells, the risk of scar formation is virtuallynegligible. Many ruby laser systems harbor focusing risks. The SINON ruby laser system can also be deployed for epilationin patients with fair skin types. This further application is enabledby SINON’s comparatively long pulse duration, a feature that mostconventional ruby laser systems do not possess. The SINON laser system has a divergent beam for maximum safety.

Practical:Spot-size SwitchingChanging the spot size in many systems requiresone to change the entire handpiece. The SINONlaser system requires no more than a quick handmovement: simply select the desired (colorcoded)spacer and insert it into the handpiece(snap-in mechanism).Simple:Changing Treatment TypesIn addition to its main area of application (i.e.the removal of pigments), the SINON can alsobe deployed for epilation in patients with fairskin. Changing between these treatment modesis simple. The desired mode is adjusted at thepress of a button. Once the change has beenmade, the values that appear in the display arerelevant only to the selected treatment.Unrestricted:View of the Treatment ZoneOwing to its special handpiece design and theuse of the distance holder, the SINON affordsthe physician an unrestricted view of the treatmentzone. Other handpieces with glass insertsinvolve some degree of obstruction. If a skincoolingfunction is desired, this can be realizedwith an optional cold-air unit.Cooling OptionIf the laser system is expected to see heavy-dutyuse, or if it is to be operated at higher ambienttemperatures or in smaller rooms, the watercooleddevice variant of the SINON ruby lasersystem is to be recommended.United ForcesThe combination of a large spot diameter and ahigh rate of repetition makes the SINON rubylaser system both powerful and swift.
