GP/HD/PD/CD/EDDESMI ROTAN, one of the world’sleading manufacturers of internal gear pumpsDESMI A/S, formerly known as A/S De Smithske, wasfounded in 1834. Today DESMI A/S develops, manufacturesand markets pumps and pumping systemsworld-wide. The ROTAN pumps are marketed by theDESMI ROTAN division and are distributed by subsidiaries, sales agencies and distributors in more than 40countries.The internal gear pump principle was developed in1915 by a Danish American. In 1921, he licensed aDanish company to manufacture the pumps, whichhave been continuously marketed worldwide underthe ROTAN name. The unique, modular concept ofROTAN pumps is generally recognized as the mostadvanced internal gear pump design available today.Product development with CADMain offices and factory in AalborgPumps are marketed worldwide under the ROTAN name2

The ROTAN internal gear pump provides favourableflow conditions, as the direction of the liquid flow isonly changed slightly through the pump. This means that superior self-priming capability andgentle liquid handling are achieved, and also thathighly viscous liquids may be pumped.Method of operationLiquid inlet Passage of liquid Liquid outletEach pump is tested usingmodern facilitiesISO 9001 certificateManufacturing with state-of-the-art CNC equipmentRotan pumps offer the following additionaladvantages:- Pumping in either direction- Easy maintenance and inspection based on themodular design- Sturdy and uncomplicated construction withonly two rotating parts and one shaft seal- Large choice of configurations available asstandard- Genuine back pull-out designEvery ROTAN pump is hydrostatically andperformance tested and receives its own certificatebefore leaving the factory. It is DESMI ROTAN’s policy to offer solutionstailored to our customers' needs and to follow-up byfirst-class after-sales service.3

EDEnvironmental Duty pumps, magnetically coupled pumpsfor ultimate protection against leakageED pumps are designed for applications where noleakage, liquid or gaseous, is allowed.Earlier the fields of application for the ED pumpwere typically isocyanate, solvents and other hazardousorganic liquids.Nowadays ED pumps are increasingly used for nothazardous liquids as well, since leakage/pollutionbecomes more and more unacceptable. As only minimal maintenance is necessary, ED pumpswill be a very economical solution compared to traditionalpumps where frequent shaft seal replacementsare required.Construction materials: Cast iron, carbon steelor stainless steelCapacity: Up to 90 m 3 /hSpeed:Up to 1,750 rpmDifferential pressure:Suction lift:Viscosity:Temperature:Up to 16 barUp to 0.5 bar vacuumwhile primingUp to 0.8 bar vacuumwhile pumpingUp to 10,000 cStUp to 250˚C8

Most important features and benefits- Maximum protection against leakage- Patented cooling system, based on an integralpump, eliminating the need for external cooling(see picture below)- Dynamic axial balancing system, minimizingaxial loads, saving energy and increasing life(see picture below)- Increased safety, provided by a completelyenclosed magnetic coupling housing- Optimal for outdoor installation, the completelyenclosed magnetic coupling housing protects theexternal magnets from contact with moisture andforeign matters.Suction(Discharge)- Large choice of slide bearing materials availableas standard, e.g. cast iron, bronze, carbon and, tungsten carbide- Standard magnet material is neodymium-iron-boron.Optional samarium cobalt permanent magnetspermit operating temperatures up to 250°C- Pumping in either direction- External heating jackets for both front cover andmagnetic coupling housing available as standardoptional features- Genuine back-pullout design- Standard as close-coupled, optional with bareshaft end- Both internal and external canister protectionDischarge(Suction)ROTAN ED SERIES PUMPThe most advanced, magnetically driven, positivedisplacement pump available9

If you do not hit oneof these pump lines exactly, increase ordecrease the capacity a bit. The speed isfound vertically below the point of intersection(see example). The maximum speed of each pump is foundvertically below the end of each pump line(indicated with the small black dot). Thismaximum speed must be reduced to max.50% when pumping strongly abrasive liquidsor emulsions. When the differential pressureis known, the shaft power is calculated asfollows:E(kW) = 0.07 x flow (m 3 /h) x differentialpressure (bar)The requested shaft power has to beincreased by up to 35% when using a smallROTAN pump in combination with highviscosity. (More than 10,000 cSt).The requested shaft power has to bedecreased by up to 35% when using a bigROTAN pump in combination with low viscosity.(Less than 500 cSt).
