Ubisense Series 7000 Trimode TagFACT SHEET(PRELIMINARY)The Ubisense Trimode Tag is a small, rugged device that can beattached to assets, allowing them to be located both indoors andoutdoors using GPS, 2.4GHz signals (to presence-level accuracy) and/orultrawideband technology (to an accuracy of 15cm* in 3D in real time). Itis specifically designed for use in industrial sites where harshenvironmental conditions will be encountered. In addition to its trackingcapabilities, it includes additional features such as three LEDs for easystatus identification, a motion detector to instantly activate a stationarytag and a push button to trigger events.FeaturesAccurate Indoor LocationThe tag transmits ultra-wideband (UWB) radio pulses which can beused by the Ubisense location system to find its position to within15cm* in 3D. By using UWB, the system’s accuracy is maintainedeven in cluttered, multipath-rich indoor environments. TheUbisense location system is the only one capable of measuringboth Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) and Time-Difference-of-Arrival (TDoA)of the tag’s signals, for increased accuracy and robustness.Low-infrastructure Presence LocationUbisense tags employ a unique dual-radio architecture – inaddition to the one-way UWB radio used for precision tracking,tags have a conventional bi-directional 2.4GHz radio for controland telemetry. In situations where the full UWB location systemcapabilities are not required, these radio signals allow theUbisense location system to supply presence-level information fortags, indoors or outdoors, using a very sparse network of sensors.Outdoor GPS LocationThe Trimode Tag incorporates a SiRFStar-based GPS receiver.When outside the location range of the Ubisense UWB locationsystem, it will attempt to use GPS to find its location, and will relaythat to back the Ubisense location system via its 2.4GHz radio.Two Way CommunicationThe tag’s two-way 2.4GHz communication capability allows theUbisense system to dynamically manage the tag’s update rate,flash the tag’s LEDs, report battery status and button presses, andwirelessly reprogram the tag to enable new features.Flexible Update RatesThe Ubisense software platform allows the tag’s update rate to bedynamically and automatically varied depending on tag activity.When stationary, tags sleep to conserve power, and an in-builtmotion detector ensures the tag transmits again when moved.User Interaction FeaturesThe tag has a button to provide context-sensitive input tointeractive applications..The application can also send feedback tothe user via the tag LEDs that it received the button pressRugged and AdaptableThe Trimode Tag is designed to be rugged, for use in harshindustrial environments.
