Star Trek Armada II●●●●●●●Use three or four Freighters to efficiently mine a Moon. This way as soon as anempty Freighter leaves the Refinery, a full one is ready to enter, ensuring anuninterrupted cash flow. But do not use too many, or you will have trafficjams, and idle Freighters waiting in line to gather ore or unload at the Refinery.Always know where your next meal is coming from. Secure additional Moonsand Planets before you exhaust the ones you are currently working.Always build a Trade Station if it is available. This will allow you to exchangeone resource for another, so if for example you have plenty of Dilithium, butyou are short of Metal, you can easily sell off some excess Dilithium and buythe Metal you need.If you can build Trade Stations, consider building a pair of them, and runCargo Ships between them to generate extra Latinum. The farther apart theyare, the more profit you make on each trip. In this way you can create asteady inexhaustible supply of Latinum. You need resources to be strong, and so does your opponent. Disrupting hismining operations, and cutting him off from Moons and Planets will hurt himby slowing or stifling his production capacity.Your Mining operations are your lifeblood. Defend them aggressively. Theirloss could knock you out of the game. Consider building two or three turrets todefend them, and stage your fleets so that you can Warp in reinforcementsquickly if needed.Never stop building until you run out of Officers. If you have to stop buildingbecause you ran out of resources, reread the tips above to increase your cashflow.[ Return to Top ]The Smell of PhasersJust having a mighty Armada at your command is not enough to ensure victory. Hereare a few tactics from our Admirals to help turn the tide of battle in your favor.●●●●●●With ships that have a rearward firing capability, it is often a good tactic tomove them away from the enemy during battle. This will often string out theattackers allowing you to destroy them in ones and twos rather than facethem en masse. This can also allow the fleeing ships to hit their pursuers whileescaping some or all of their return fire. This is a great equalizer. When fighting against ships armed with Pulse Phasers, keep moving. Theyhave a difficult time hitting moving targets, and will generally miss as often asnot. If the opportunity presents itself, capture your opponent's key structuresrather than just destroy them. You then have the option of using them againsthim by providing you with new ships and stations, or simply imagine the lookon his face as you Decommission them and recover the resources for yourself.Often you can use a few inexpensive sacrificial lambs to eliminate an enemyfleet, which is on Red Alert. Have a couple ships attack the enemy fleet, andthen run back to your base. Often the enemy fleet will follow your shipsstraight into the teeth of your base defenses, and get cut to pieces.Your base structures (especially your Starbase) are a great source of Crewwhen you are being attacked. If the enemy is trying to capture a one of yourbase structures, or if enemy ships are in your base, use nearby structures tobeam Crew to friendly ships or stations to prevent capture and speed uprepair, as well as beam Crew onto enemy ships whose shields have comedown.Often you can win a game right at the start by quickly building a small attackforce and hitting your opponent's critical structures before he has his basehttp://gaming.startrek.com/games/armada2/gameinfo/strategies.html (2 of 6)12/12/2003 7:05:26 AM
