BJCs subsidiary and Ball Corporation, the worlds No. 1 can producer,jointly expand in Vietnam beverage can marketBangkok - 13 June 2011: Thai Beverage Can Limited (TBC), a subsidiary of Berli Jucker Public CompanyLimited (BJC) jointly invests with Ball Corporation, the worlds No. 1 metal packaging producer forbeverages from the US, to build a US$ 60-million aluminum can manufacturing plant in Vietnam, aiming tobe a market leader in beverage packaging industry in Indochina.Mr. Aswin Techajareonvikul, president of BJC and executive director of TBC, announced the signing of jointventure agreement between TBC, the subsidiary of BJC (SET:BJC), and Ball Corporation (NYSE:BLL) tojointly invest in an aluminum can manufacturing plant in Vietnam in response to the growing demand inIndochina.TBC, one of Thailands largest aluminum packing producers, was founded in 1996. With production capacityof 1.45 billion cans per year, TBC has been able to meet the rising demand of aluminum can packaging inThailand and the region. TBC has strong capability in packaging design and development to meet clientsdemand under state-of-the-art technology of Ball Corporation.Vietnam is a very attractive country for investment with strong economic growth and over 85 millionpopulations, 50% of which is in middle class and young to working age. The consumption behavior of thissegment is that they are opened to consume new beverages. As a result, the country is one of the leadingdestinations for global and regional beverage producers to invest their manufacturing base to tap this risingdemand. This also has caused growing demand for aluminum can packaging in the country for over 15% peryear.

With Balls core strengths oftechnology and know-how and regional experience of BJC, the company can be a leader in Indochinesemarkets.TBCs president, Mr. Saroj Chayavivatkul, said the investment in a new plant is USD 60 million orapproximately THB 1.8 billion. The plant will be located in Binh Doung province, Vietnam with an area of80,000 sqm. It will have annual production capacity of 850 million cans. The production is expected to beginby the second quarter of 2012.Vietnam has strong competitive advantage as manufacturing base with continuing increase in consumption.In addition, its geographical location provides a key strategic advantage as a bridging country betweenIndochina and Southern China. Therefore, Vietnam will be a good manufacturing base to distribute productsto Southern China.
