<strong>BJC</strong>s <strong>subsidiary</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Ball</strong> <strong>Corporation</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>world</strong>s <strong>No</strong>. 1 <strong>can</strong> producer,jointly exp<strong>and</strong> in Vietnam beverage <strong>can</strong> marketBangkok - 13 June 2011: Thai Beverage Can Limited (TBC), a <strong>subsidiary</strong> of Berli Jucker Public CompanyLimited (<strong>BJC</strong>) jointly invests with <strong>Ball</strong> <strong>Corporation</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>world</strong>s <strong>No</strong>. 1 metal packaging producer forbeverages from <strong>the</strong> US, to build a US$ 60-million aluminum <strong>can</strong> manufacturing plant in Vietnam, aiming tobe a market leader in beverage packaging industry in Indochina.Mr. Aswin Techajareonvikul, president of <strong>BJC</strong> <strong>and</strong> executive director of TBC, announced <strong>the</strong> signing of jointventure agreement between TBC, <strong>the</strong> <strong>subsidiary</strong> of <strong>BJC</strong> (SET:<strong>BJC</strong>), <strong>and</strong> <strong>Ball</strong> <strong>Corporation</strong> (NYSE:BLL) tojointly invest in an aluminum <strong>can</strong> manufacturing plant in Vietnam in response to <strong>the</strong> growing dem<strong>and</strong> inIndochina.TBC, one of Thail<strong>and</strong>s largest aluminum packing producers, was founded in 1996. With production capacityof 1.45 billion <strong>can</strong>s per year, TBC has been able to meet <strong>the</strong> rising dem<strong>and</strong> of aluminum <strong>can</strong> packaging inThail<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> region. TBC has strong capability in packaging design <strong>and</strong> development to meet clientsdem<strong>and</strong> under state-of-<strong>the</strong>-art technology of <strong>Ball</strong> <strong>Corporation</strong>.Vietnam is a very attractive country for investment with strong economic growth <strong>and</strong> over 85 millionpopulations, 50% of which is in middle class <strong>and</strong> young to working age. The consumption behavior of thissegment is that <strong>the</strong>y are opened to consume new beverages. As a result, <strong>the</strong> country is one of <strong>the</strong> leadingdestinations for global <strong>and</strong> regional beverage producers to invest <strong>the</strong>ir manufacturing base to tap this risingdem<strong>and</strong>. This also has caused growing dem<strong>and</strong> for aluminum <strong>can</strong> packaging in <strong>the</strong> country for over 15% peryear.

Thisexpansion is to serve <strong>the</strong> rising dem<strong>and</strong> for metal packaging from global beverage producers who have keptexp<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>the</strong>ir coverage globally.<strong>Ball</strong> <strong>Corporation</strong> has successfully cooperated with TBC in Thail<strong>and</strong> since 1996. We are excited aboutexp<strong>and</strong>ing into Vietnam with our partner, Thai Beverage Can, Hayes said. With <strong>Ball</strong>s core strengths oftechnology <strong>and</strong> know-how <strong>and</strong> regional experience of <strong>BJC</strong>, <strong>the</strong> company <strong>can</strong> be a leader in Indochinesemarkets.TBCs president, Mr. Saroj Chayavivatkul, said <strong>the</strong> investment in a new plant is USD 60 million orapproximately THB 1.8 billion. The plant will be located in Binh Doung province, Vietnam with an area of80,000 sqm. It will have annual production capacity of 850 million <strong>can</strong>s. The production is expected to beginby <strong>the</strong> second quarter of 2012.Vietnam has strong competitive advantage as manufacturing base with continuing increase in consumption.In addition, its geographical location provides a key strategic advantage as a bridging country betweenIndochina <strong>and</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>rn China. Therefore, Vietnam will be a good manufacturing base to distribute productsto Sou<strong>the</strong>rn China. The joint venture with <strong>Ball</strong> <strong>Corporation</strong> will be ano<strong>the</strong>r important step for <strong>BJC</strong> tostrategically achieve our goal in becoming a regional leader in Indochina, Mr Aswin said.………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
