Kageno Worldwide Intern: Learn the ins and outs of a grassroots non-profit that works directly withimpoverished communities in Kenya and Rwanda. This unique unpaid opportunity will allow you togain global perspective, tackle issues facing developing countries, and assist with all levels of non-profitmanagement. As an intern, you will help with all operations and efforts of the organization includingbut not limited to: event planning for an annual fundraising gala, maintenance of the orphan and childsponsorship program, blogging and social media, outreach and newsletter writing, etc. Experience nonprofitmanagement, international development and a creative work environment. Kageno’s mission is totransform impoverished communities into places of opportunity and hope, through the development ofself-sustaining community-directed programs in Education, Health, Ventures (Income Generation),and Environment. They believe it is essential to sustainable development to work with the communityrather than giving simple aid or handouts. Kageno is almost entirely volunteer-based, which meansinterns and volunteers have the opportunity to contribute in endless ways. Timing of the internship isflexible -- projected for two weeks in August 2012, with the potential to extend or work remotelythroughout the school year. Kageno’s headquarters is located in lower Manhattan and accessible by NJtransit and does not have a conventional office environment. They meet and operate remotely and at theExecutive Director's home.
