Dear Friends & Neighbors,Although for many of us, it’s been a few years since we werein school, one of my most vivid memories of childhood wasthe excitement of school being over and summer beginning.Regardless of the weather, summer is always an excingme of the year. The days are longer, the pool is morerefreshing, and each week is filled with things we want todo instead of things we have to do. It brings to mind theimportance of making sure our days include acvies thathelp maintain a good balance in our life. Recreaon is anessenal component of a healthy lifestyle, one in which webalance the things we have to do, such as work, chores andpaying the bills, with things we want to do, like dancing, playing, drawing and having fun! This may seem trivial tosome, but unfortunately you don’t have to look very hard tofind someone who is obviously over stressed, or in a physicalcondion that inhibits their ability to enjoy life. However, especially here in Boynton, you don’t have to lookvery hard to find many healthy and fun alternaves. TheRecreaon & Parks Department provides a broad menu offun opons to choose from! The acvies you find in thisissue of Funfare! Magazine, whether it’s a Zumba class, an artclass, dance program or simply walking in one of our manyparks, are proven ways to reduce stress, stay healthy, andmost of all, enjoy a good quality of life for as long as possible. So, as the beginning of summer quickly approaches, I urge allof you to make this a me when you once again get excitedabout doing something you want to do, instead of focusingonly on the things you have to do. It will do your body andyour mind a lot of good. Have fun, recreate!Wally Majors, CPRPRecreaon & Parks DirectorBoynton Beach...Where Recreation is a Lifestyle
