<strong>Keep<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>Interactive</strong> <strong>Notebooks</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>French</strong> <strong>Class</strong>:<strong>The</strong> <strong>Right</strong> <strong>Side</strong><strong>Interactive</strong> <strong>Notebooks</strong> will be used <strong>in</strong> this class daily to help you learn and remember importantvocabulary, grammar, and culture aspects of the <strong>French</strong> language. Why do they work? Becausethis notebook style uses both the right and left hemispheres of the bra<strong>in</strong> to help you sort,categorize, remember and creatively <strong>in</strong>teract with the <strong>in</strong>formation you are ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g. You mustactively do someth<strong>in</strong>g with the new concepts before you really understand them. <strong>The</strong> more youprocess <strong>in</strong>formation the more you beg<strong>in</strong> to understand it. This leads to longer retention.What goes on the right side? INPUT goes on the right side• Notes/vocabulary from read<strong>in</strong>gs and lectures on grammar and culture.• Textbook activities.• All teacher generated <strong>in</strong>formation (i.e. handouts)<strong>The</strong> Keys to Fantastic <strong>Right</strong> <strong>Side</strong>s Always start the page with the date (<strong>in</strong> <strong>French</strong>: see board) and title at the top. <strong>Right</strong> sides have odd numbered pages (write numbers on top right corner.) <strong>The</strong> right side is for writ<strong>in</strong>g/glu<strong>in</strong>g down <strong>in</strong>formation you are given <strong>in</strong> class. Write legibly. Use highlight<strong>in</strong>g and color to make important <strong>in</strong>formation stand out. Use notes for lecture, discussion, text, etc.

You are accountable for EVERY SINGLE page <strong>in</strong> the FIN. <strong>The</strong> same goes if youmiss class – get the notes from either a FIN Buddy or from Mademoiselle’s copy.
