Azim Premji University6. Specific ResponsibilitiesThe Registrar will be responsible for overall academic administration, policydevelopment and secretariat services. He/she will manage Deputy Registrarsspecifically tasked with Finance, Student Affairs, People, Admissions and Placementand Administration. He/she will explore innovative ways to give direction to studentlife-cycle management. The Registrar will ensure the appropriate use of resourcesand maintain and improve communication, operational and strategic activitieswithin Student and Academic Services. He/she will be the Secretary to the Board ofGovernors and Board of Management.Responsibilities of the Registrar’s position will be to:i. Provide executive support and assistance to the Vice Chancellor in developingoperational plans to deliver services efficiently and effectivelyii.iii.iv.Provide executive support and assistance to the Vice Chancellor, Board ofGovernors, Board of Management in the operation of the Board, the conductof Board of Governors, and the flow of items between committees andbetween Academic Board and University CouncilProvide leadership in the development of academic policy as well as itsdissemination and implementationExercise administrative oversight of the University’s course structure andcourse development framework.v. Contribute to the strategic direction of the University’s student supportservices and its operational plans to improve and enhance the total studentexperience.vi.vii.viii.ix.Perform the role of custodian of key student systems, including the StudentManagement System.Formulate, manage and control the planning and implementation of theoperational plans for the areaEstablish and maintain effective communication relationships across theUniversity, delivering quality information and feedback as required.Keep up to date with relevant higher education issues and research andprepare papers on current issuesCompensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experiencePositions – July 2010 Page 8
