DEARBORN HEIGHTS SKI & SNOWBOARD CLUB<br />

SEASON<br />
MEMBERSHIP<br />
The <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> Ski & Snowboard Club is for <strong>ski</strong>ers<br />
and snowboarders in grades 6-12. It provides members<br />
many services including: lessons, <strong>ski</strong>ing/boarding with<br />
other members and participation in any or all <strong>of</strong> the trips<br />
at reduced rates.<br />
MEMBERSHIP FEE<br />
$8.00 for <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> residents, $12.00 for<br />
non-residents (See Application On Back) THIS FEE IS<br />
NON-REFUNDABLE.<br />
DEADLINE FOR MEMBERSHIP<br />
Submit applications to the <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> Parks &<br />
Recreation Department by Monday, December 17, 2012. A<br />
late <strong>registration</strong> fee <strong>of</strong> $2.00 will be added to applications<br />
received after that date.<br />
TRIP FEES<br />
The cost <strong>of</strong> each trip will be: $34.00 per <strong>ski</strong>er, $41.00<br />
per snowboarder. This includes lift ticket, lesson ticket,<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>iciency patches and transportation. An $18.00 rental<br />
equipment package is available for <strong>ski</strong>s and snowboard.<br />
WEEKLY PERMISSION SLIPS<br />
The weekly permission slip with payment must be delivered<br />
to the Canfield Center by Wednesday 1:00 p.m. prior to<br />
each trip. This slip can also be sent by FAX (313) 791-<br />
3601 with payment by Visa, Discover Card or Mastercard,<br />
including expiration date. A DROP BOX is available at<br />
the entrance to the Canfield Center for deposits when the<br />
building is closed.<br />
CANCELLATIONS<br />
Cancellations may be made by calling the <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong><br />
Parks & Recreation Office at 791-3600 before noon Thursday<br />
prior to the Friday <strong>ski</strong> trip. A new slip must be filled out with<br />
the make-up date and returned by Wednesday 1:00 p.m.<br />
prior to the make-up <strong>ski</strong> trip. If it is a late cancellation or<br />
no-show a $10.00 bus charge payment must be attached.<br />

OVERNIGHT TRIP<br />
A special 3 day/3 night trip will be planned to Killington,<br />
Vermont on February 28, 2013 - March 3, 2013.<br />
SUPERVISION<br />
Club members will be supervised each trip by our adult<br />
sponsors. This includes the bus ride to and from the <strong>ski</strong><br />
area, in the <strong>ski</strong> lodge at the area and on the hill while <strong>ski</strong>ing.<br />
Students with questions or problems during a trip can<br />
find adult assistance at the <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> Ski/Board<br />
table in the lodge.<br />

MEMBERSHIP & PROFICIENCY PATCHES<br />
Members should have their patches sewn on<br />
their jackets. Patches are our means <strong>of</strong> identification<br />
<strong>of</strong> each <strong>ski</strong>er's pr<strong>of</strong>iciency and ensures<br />
that they are receiving the proper instruction<br />
program.<br />
RECOMMENDED CLOTHING<br />
Thermal underwear, <strong>ski</strong> or snowboard socks,<br />
<strong>ski</strong> pants or jeans treated for water repellancy.<br />
A sweater and/or parka, a cap/hat, and heavy<br />
duty mittens are a must. We also advise a<br />
helmet for all <strong>ski</strong>ers and snowboarders.<br />
SAFETY CHECK<br />
A good safety check will include <strong>ski</strong>s, snowboards<br />
and boots and poles to ensure that boots are<br />
fitted correctly, <strong>ski</strong>s, snowboards and poles are<br />
in good condition and that safety bindings are<br />
adjusted for proper release. This should be<br />
done by a <strong>ski</strong> shop specialist.<br />
SKI INSTRUCTION<br />
The Mt. Holly Ski School has certified (PSIA)<br />
instructors. All students must take a lesson on<br />
each trip. Special arrangements will be made<br />
to teach the first time students. Lesson fees<br />
are included.<br />
BEHAVIOR POLICY<br />

* Students must not leave the <strong>ski</strong> area<br />
* No unruly behavior<br />

* Students MUST return on the bus with<br />
the group.<br />

<strong>Heights</strong> Ski & Snowboard Club choice<br />
for purchase <strong>of</strong> <strong>ski</strong> equipment and apparel.<br />
Nichols is located at 21938 Michigan Ave, between<br />
Monroe and Oakwood. Parking is at<br />
the rear <strong>of</strong> the store. A special discount will<br />
be given to <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> Ski/Snowboard<br />
Club members.<br />

FAMILY DISCOUNTS<br />
Parents are welcome on scheduled trips. Parents/family<br />
members may purchase lift tickets,<br />
rentals and lesson tickets at a reduced rate.<br />
A one-time discount card must be purchased<br />
for $16.00. See our adult chaperone on duty<br />
in our <strong>club</strong> room on the third floor.<br />
VALUABLES<br />
Leave valuables such as: ipods, cell phones<br />
and other electronics at home. Use the <strong>ski</strong>/<br />
snowboard corral to keep equipment safe.<br />
Also, keep your money on your person in a<br />
zipped pocket. The lodge is used by other <strong>ski</strong><br />
<strong>club</strong>s throughout the area, unattended items<br />
do get stolen. The <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> Parks &<br />
Recreation Department, it's volunteers or the<br />
<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dearborn</strong> <strong>Heights</strong> are not responsible<br />
for lost or stolen items.<br />
