Wood-Fired Artisan Bread Baking with Amy JamesArtisan bread is all the rage, but at <strong>North</strong> <strong>House</strong>, we’ve been pulling crispy crusts and steaming dough out <strong>of</strong> our harbor-side woodfiredoven for years. With instructor Amy James you’ll learn to bake delicious foccacia, complete with Minnesota wild rice, that youcan replicate in your own home oven. This class will be 2.5 hours in length.Great Lakes Maritime History through Song & Story with Tom KastleThe Great Lakes were once home to over 1,800 tall ships. When salt water sailors came to the Great Lakes they brought their culturewith them, including language, technology, community, superstitions, customs, and jurisprudence. The ballads (forebitters) andshanties were adopted and adapted by freshwater sailors and spread throughout the region, to lumber camps, saloons, other vessels,and, sometimes, back out to the oceans <strong>of</strong> the world. You’ll learn basic oral storytelling skills, howto be a great story listener, and gain confidence in “making stories up.” You’ll leave with your own special stories you can tell againand again, and the tools to begin a new family tradition.
