strong to hold fruits until complete maturity. 11—When capsules<br />

have reached full maturity they break off readily, roll over<br />

desert like "tumble fruits." Fragile outer covering soon breaks<br />

under strain of this rough treatment, seeds escaping to lodge in<br />

many scattered spots. Old flower stalk, however, may remain on<br />

tree for several years, a skeletal reminder of former loveliness.<br />
