When was the last time you saw a door so beautiful
you felt compelled to run your hand across its
subtle contours? So warm and alive you drew
closer to appreciate the integrity of each joint, the
character of each line?
The truth is, most doors—even many “high-end”
doors—are the fruit of mass production, never
warranting more than a passing glance.
At Magleby Artisan Doors, we take great pleasure
in combining Old World artistry with ultra-modern
processes to custom-build doors so distinctive
they elicit touching, examination, and admiration.
Leave mass production behind, and surround
yourself with doors that make you feel the genuine
gratification that comes from experiencing and
owning the exceptional.
Old World Influence
Inspired by the work of skilled artisans, the design of a Magleby door incorporates the aesthetics one would expect in similar pieces
made centuries ago for royalty. Experience the calm reassurance of time-tested designs that will never go out of style.

Proprietary Methods
The Industrial Revolution took the tools from the craftsman’s hand, yet some still passed their passion and skills to others. At the core of
Magleby’s methods are these time-tested trade secrets, coupled with modern tools that enable unparalled precision and accuracy. As a
result, not only do Magleby doors function flawlessly, but they also invite the closest scrutiny.

Subtle Hand Planing
I
n the case of hand planing, more is definitely less. Others clumsily gouge their doors, seemingly without rhyme or reason. At the
other end of the spectrum, the gentle hand planing on a Magleby door is so nuanced you may not even notice it until a ray of sunlight
strikes its surface. It’s at such moments you’ll feel the gratification that comes from owning the world’s finest doors.

9-Step Finish
Although we encounter doors everywhere, they tend to look more like plastic than wood. Why is this? While other doors are finished in 4
steps and encased in a glossy coat of lacquer, Magleby doors are finished in 9 steps and buffed with the finest wax imported from France.
The 5 additional steps give Magleby doors greater character and depth; the wax allows the wood’s character to show through and adds a luster that
can’t be achieved through any other means.

Mortise-and-Tennon
Most modern doors feature cope-and-stick joints, which result in inferior strength and eventual stability issues. All Magleby doors feature
dependable mortise-and-tennon joinery. Although it’s more difficult to construct in this manner, the end result is a door that
will last several lifetimes.
Behind the Doors
Led by master craftsman
Nick Bruford, Magleby
Artisan Doors is
renowned for creating
doors that admirers and
customers refer to as
“works of art.” In fact, it’s
with the eye of an artist
AndrÉ Liardet
Master Craftsman
that Bruford expertly draws
the design for each door.
Then he carefully selects the door’s wood, often
envisioning something special in the material that
positively shapes the end result.
Bruford’s 30-plus years of woodworking experience
began under the tutelage of Swiss master André
Liardet, an ébéniste who immigrated to the United
States in the 1940s. This influential apprenticeship
connected Bruford with traditions of craftsmanship
going back hundreds of years.
Today, Bruford combines Old World technique
with innovative proprietary processes to produce
doors of unparalleled beauty, sophistication, and
detail.
