slept in missed a wide array of food. It was an opportunity
to meet new people in the park and enjoy lots of
conversation.
The bad news of the weekend was that Emerald Desert
Resort has been sold and we can’t count on camping there
again. At first they took our reservation for next March
but since then, that may be in jeopardy. Groups are being
limited to just a few coming in as building of condos will
begin in one of our favorite locations.
Thanks to everyone for making this a wonderful campout
and one we will remember as having been a great place to
camp.

The turnout at Bakersfield was not that big, ten rigs but
everybody had a good time. We celebrated St Patrick’s
Day with a corned Beef Dinner and a very nice cake. The
weather was not on its best behavior but that did not stop
us from picking oranges between showers. How sweet
they were. We also visited the little store down the road
for some goodies.
Marian Maas paid us a visit on Friday in the pouring rain.
She keeps very busy with her other interests and teaches
part time.
Dave Branscom and Ruth also paid us a visit. They look
very good and keep busy as best they can.
The weather was cold and wet. We had the use of the barn
(clubhouse) and Ralph was selected to be the fire stoker.
The park provided the wood and the barn was quite
comfortable. The four wagon masters were all
recuperating from the flu, some better than others. Gene
and Maggie had it quite bad and now they are on their way
for a trip that will take them away for a couple of months.

Big winner all around. Plenty of food; great entertainment;
sun broke thru the clouds and rain for our Sunday morning
get together; lots of laughs throughout the weekend.
Hal and his committee of many put the games together,
laid out the courts, organized the sign ups and away we

went for a full day of fun and games. Thanks to all the
great help, it went smoothly and everyone had lots of fun.
The fractured tostados plus the tasty Flan from Romy and
Rose Santos were excellent. Then, plenty of pizza for
Saturday lunch to power up for the afternoon games. One
of the highlights on Saturday was the visit by Ernie
Gutierrez.
Thanks to everyone for their help and participation to
make the April Games a big success, and that means
everything from putting out the food to cleaning up. We
do appreciate it.

Guajome Lake Campground was a pleasant and short drive
down from Orange County in the San Luis Rey valley. It is
located within miles of Historic Mission San Luis Rey.
With each RV nestled in private camp spots surrounded by
shrubs, everyone enjoyed a quiet weekend of visiting,
eating and informal games while others explored old but
familiar surroundings in the valley and in the city.
Satuday night Sue Wilhoff brought the General Meeting to
Order to elect the new officers, plan future trips and
discuss the December Holiday plans. Refer to page one
