THE ESTABLISHMENT RV CLUB JUNE 31, 2006
Volume 1, Issue 1 Editors: Bill and Monica Prats
President’s Message
I know our entire membership joins me in sincerely thanking
last year’s officers, wagon masters, and those in appointed
positions for their valued service to the club. Through your
efforts, we have had great times at each outing.
I'm sure that your new officers and chair-persons look
forward to making our future events enjoyable and we need
and welcome all your input and advice.
One of our priorities for this year must be to strengthen our
group with new members. Sadly, some of our long standing
members are not going to be able to participate as they once
did and the high cost of fuel doesn't help either.
I would personally like to see five new members signed up
this year, and will work towards that goal.
Best wishes to us all for a great coming year! Hal
CAMPOUTS
February – Emerald Desert RV Park
Wagon Masters: Hal and Marlene Larsen; Peter and
Elly Ruysenaars; Jim and Jackie Kordones
By Marlene Larsen
February brought beautiful weather to the desert but that
isn’t to say we didn’t have a threat of rain a couple of
times.
The Anniversary month brought lots of food, a great
attendance by members and guests plus our traditional
celebration cake. Our soup and sandwich dinner was
excellent. The Wagon masters provided the soup and
Costco provided the great sandwiches.
Saturday morning the breakfast at the main clubhouse
was attended by many of the members and those that
continued to page 2
slept in missed a wide array of food. It was an opportunity
to meet new people in the park and enjoy lots of
conversation.
The bad news of the weekend was that Emerald Desert
Resort has been sold and we can’t count on camping there
again. At first they took our reservation for next March
but since then, that may be in jeopardy. Groups are being
limited to just a few coming in as building of condos will
begin in one of our favorite locations.
Thanks to everyone for making this a wonderful campout
and one we will remember as having been a great place to
camp.
March – Bakersfield March 16 Orange Grove
RV Park, Bakersfield
Wagon Masters Gene and Maggie Sullivan, Ralph &
Pauline Cleary
By Pauline Cleary
The turnout at Bakersfield was not that big, ten rigs but
everybody had a good time. We celebrated St Patrick’s
Day with a corned Beef Dinner and a very nice cake. The
weather was not on its best behavior but that did not stop
us from picking oranges between showers. How sweet
they were. We also visited the little store down the road
for some goodies.
Marian Maas paid us a visit on Friday in the pouring rain.
She keeps very busy with her other interests and teaches
part time.
Dave Branscom and Ruth also paid us a visit. They look
very good and keep busy as best they can.
The weather was cold and wet. We had the use of the barn
(clubhouse) and Ralph was selected to be the fire stoker.
The park provided the wood and the barn was quite
comfortable. The four wagon masters were all
recuperating from the flu, some better than others. Gene
and Maggie had it quite bad and now they are on their way
for a trip that will take them away for a couple of months.
Till next time – Pauline Cleary
April Games – Vail Lake
Big winner all around. Plenty of food; great entertainment;
sun broke thru the clouds and rain for our Sunday morning
get together; lots of laughs throughout the weekend.
Hal and his committee of many put the games together,
laid out the courts, organized the sign ups and away we
The Big "E" Chatterbox 2
went for a full day of fun and games. Thanks to all the
great help, it went smoothly and everyone had lots of fun.
The fractured tostados plus the tasty Flan from Romy and
Rose Santos were excellent. Then, plenty of pizza for
Saturday lunch to power up for the afternoon games. One
of the highlights on Saturday was the visit by Ernie
Gutierrez.
Thanks to everyone for their help and participation to
make the April Games a big success, and that means
everything from putting out the food to cleaning up. We
do appreciate it.
May – Guajome Regional Park
Wagon Masters Ralph & Pauline Cleary, Marty & Sue
Willhoff
Guajome Lake Campground was a pleasant and short drive
down from Orange County in the San Luis Rey valley. It is
located within miles of Historic Mission San Luis Rey.
With each RV nestled in private camp spots surrounded by
shrubs, everyone enjoyed a quiet weekend of visiting,
eating and informal games while others explored old but
familiar surroundings in the valley and in the city.
Satuday night Sue Wilhoff brought the General Meeting to
Order to elect the new officers, plan future trips and
discuss the December Holiday plans. Refer to page one
June 15 – Chula Vista RV Resort
Wagon Master: Jim and Lynne Rupert: Frank
and Loyce Swedberg
Located on the edge of San Diego bay, The Chula vista RV
Park provided a great location for relaxing and visiting in
the moderate weather. Ten units participated in this
month’s trip including our newest members Carol and Pete
Halverson and Al and Rosalie Hedges.
Thursday night, nineteen members and guests took
advantage on the great Fish Fry at the Galley Restaurant
then followed with an evening walk around the bays edge.
Saturday's activities included an Olympic match horse shoe
game with Jimmy, Jim, Frank, Peter, and Al tossing ringers
while at least one competitor made repeated attempts to kill
migrating birds flying overhead.
The Wagon Masters hosted Saturday’s sandwich and salad
lunch which was followed by a scavenger hunt won by
Clarisa. Pauline took 2 nd place. Some unique items on the
scavenger list included a restaurant menu, spark plug
wrench, 4 bobby pins and a red sock.
Saturday night dinner was on our own but Sunday morning
everyone gathered for the morning meeting. Our new
president, Hal Larsen, introduced himself, the new officers
and outlined his vision for 2006. Refer to the President’s
message page 1.
In closing this event, there is a rumor that Chula Vista
could eventually succumb to a condo project leaving a void
in future camping plans.
